I don't think I can get them from any recycling sites like craig list or freecycle - because people don't even think of keeping burnt-out bulbs - they through them away immediatelly, as they are not recyclable. I need quite a lot of them. Any ideas? By the way - I am in UK

Go to the institution that is requiring your project (like a school, college, or university). Ask them for bulbs.
If it is not against their environmental policy, they may give you some.
Otherwise, find a community forum (newspaper) and ask for them their.
Be sure that you do not accept too many as you may become a hazardous waste generator (some US municipalities will regulate broken bulbs as a hazardous material - as opposed to a universal waste), so be careful.

As a former owner of a hotel in the Branson area, check with hotels they have tons of bulbs and they can save them for you and all you would have to do is ask . Hotels are great for old used stuff, bulbs, towels, sheets, pillows etc.

We have about 20 plus burnt out bulbs that you could have we are in the midlands

You might try business that use a lot of lamps. Here in the US, I would think of hotels and motels, businesses that use lamps in their rooms. I would bet that they recycle and might be happy for you to have their spent bulbs. Good luck.......marilyn

Maybe there is a way you can make them. I'm no electrician, but perhaps you could buy good bulbs, and plug them into something that would burn them out....too much wattage or some thing?

I don't have any immediate answers, but if you're not in a hurry, how about placing boxes with large notices in any supermarkets/diy stores etc. I guess you'd have to ask permission.........the 'helf n safety' aspect may have to be addressed? Also, what about local businesses/art college etc.? Sorry I can't think of a 'miracle' answer.....

Just go to any older building in your area..such as schools. Hospitals. Speak with the maintenance dept I bet you could get some there.

tryn going to a demolition sight they may have burnt out light bulbs from fixtures that they may be throughing out maybe they will have burnt out light bulbs in them. i know this because i used to work in demolition

Ask a large company in your area, next time one burns out they wl keep them! Tel friends and family and ask them to keep them, hw many roughly do u need?
