In other words, it's our fault that Christians are so badly behaved? By giving them targets, we're just asking for it?
I guess that goes right along with the believers "It's only wrong because I might get caught" morality, doesn't it?

Well, then you'd better learn to behave yourselves better in public, don't you think? Either that or get some more respectable beliefs.
The fact of the matter is that the problem here in R&S is many of the Christians, and some of the Muslims. Other religions cause essentially no problems, and relatively few of the atheists make the kind of unwarranted childish attacks that we see from many of the Christians and some of the Muslims.
Clean up your own act. If you can't handle having people point out that your beliefs are false, perhaps you'd better go lock yourself up in a room somewhere. You have no right to expect others to pretend that your beliefs are true, or even that they're respectable.

Atheists more than others love a good discussion and they get plenty of it tangling with people in the religion section.
Besides as they do not have an atheist section in YA where else can they go to?.
Besides atheist & being religious are two sides of the same coin. Both need the other rather as you need both bulls and bears in the stock market.

If a person of faith tries to convert me, I don't consider that "pushing" their religion on me. That is just exercising their freedom of expression. I have that freedom as well, and I can use it to say that I think their religious beliefs are incorrect, and why I feel that way.
Some examples of what I consider "pushing" religion:
1. Censorship based on religious beliefs
2. Trying to use tax dollars to advance their religious belief (faith-based initiatives come to mind).
3. Trying to get the government to favor one religion over all the others (such as having a display of the 10 commandments in a courthouse).
4. Trying to get schools to make kids participate in religious exercises.

I'm a Christian and I have problems with overzealous Christians. Jesus never said to push religion on anybody. If he encountered people who didn't want to listen, he would walk away knowing the people who wanted to hear Him would follow Him. Atheists have every right to believe what they want to but disrespecting religion is the same as Bible thumping people to death.

Because when I'm slapped upon the cheek...
I practice the great wisdom taught in The New Testament...
I turn the other cheek...
And then I "push" back...('cause Jesus didn't say anything about being pushy...which explains why Christians have no problem with THAT!!!)

No one likes anything pushed upon them. Like if you watch a 2 minute long Japanese commercial, you'll feel so pressed to buy that item.
I like intellectual conversations about God, it's why I come here. I hope to see some at some point during the day, but most of the time I end up with us evolving from monkeys, and I feel obligated to correct that.

So wait its my fault for the religious types acting like jerks?
Wow I love that logical thought. When people tell me I am going to hell I push back and really geta kick out of ripping their religion apart.
Most people don't know squat about their religion and haven o clue how it evolved over time.
And as someone else said what really is sick is telling a young child that if they don't act a certain way they will burn in hell. What up with that?
In short this is how most Christains are in my opinion anymore.

I am here for my own entertainment #1. And also, to add my voice to those of my fellow atheists when someone asks a question about why their mother is dying even though their whole church is praying for her to be healed, and she's only getting worse and worse. We are here to sympathize with them and give them the logical answers that we have found to be true, and not just tell them her faith isn't strong enough and some crap like that. Many of us have been at similar points in our lives and found the superstitious nonsence and sugar-coated lies to be far less than helpful in our time of need. I personally do not answer questions with my point of view when the one asking is not looking for anything more than "Jesus loves you, let's pray" type answers. And when we complain about people shoveing their religions down our throats, we don't mean in here, we expect that, of course. We mean, like some of our parents, and teachers and door knocking neighbors have been doing for years. FYI

We probably come here because it shows up as a new question on the answers main page and we hate christketeers. Now in my case it's not so much because you push religion on us but because I find you all fascinatingly simple and therefore intriguing. I quite enjoy hearing the ludicrous claims you make and then trying to find any sort of rationale besides a rampant chemical addiction that might make some of it sound plausible to me.

I don't mind the pushing on me personally because I can push back. It is the pushing on the young and defenseless I dislike. Everyone who comes onto this site knows what they are getting into. Telling a seven year old in elementary school that he is going to burn in hell if he doesn't believe the same way you do is sick and people who do so should be ashamed.
