I know someone who packed their dress with low blown balloons inside each layer When you get there hang it up in the bathroom and turn on the shower to make steam ~~

no no no.....

firstly, turn it inside out. this will help it stop any pulling or snagging on any bead work.

Then, simply fold it almost as it would fall naturally. don't force any un-natural creases. keep it as flat as possible and don't try anything silly with cushions or brown paper. if anything get normal soft tissue paper (not toilet roll I mean the wrapping stuff) and protect it against the case with that . the best other cushioning is a jersey or jumper of some sort. I put mine inside it's box first, then in it's suitcase, but you may not have a box, if not try and find one, it'd be worth it. but don't worry if not. let's face it - it will need hanging when it gets to the other side, but you will manage with only that if you don't do anything else fussy with it.

That's how I did mine anyway, and it had a good few days to hang before the wedding. it was just perfect.

good luck.... and most important of all... have fun!

It will cost more, but try to pack it in a case that is way too big. That way it will not be crushed by its own weight. Also, try to make sure it is folded with as few creases as possible when putting it in the case. Finally, try asking the people that made the dress to pack it for you, they must have experience of doing it.

I would get plenty of tissue paper (not coloured for obvious reasons) and lay the tissue in and around the dress. When you get there hang it straight away. If its creased at all hang it in the bathroom. The steam will make the creases drop out.
