I believe in the ability to defend oneself from harm, and to defend others from harm. The tends to be the philosophy behind most of the martial arts. I especially like Aikido as it's a defensive art form. I also practice Fencing and Archery.
Never start a fight, but always end one

Phrog's reply said it best. I was in the Army for five years when the missionaries knocked on my door. I stayed 15 more years as a careerist and never once regretted it. I saw combat time in the Dominican Republic and in Vietnam. We in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints adamantly believe we must sustain the leadership of our country and to follow the prescribed laws. That also means to sustain and support our country in the military. As for your direct question if Mormon believed in fighting the answer is a strong yes! Mormon, a prophet of God who had abridged the Book of Mormon and handed it down to his son, Moroni, was perhaps the youngest general in the history of civilization other than Alexander the Great. I have a strong sense you meant to say if Mormons believe in fighting, but your question was explicitly talking about the prophet Mormon.

There is art in movement, in forms and in discipline. Using these for violence is not an art. Violence, though sometimes necessary, can never said to be an art, but a violation of art. If you use violence, understand that you visit it upon yourself also. This is not to say that it can always be avoided, but you must realize the damage you do to yourself as well as others, and square yourself with that.

Lots of ways of fighting.
Sitting back and suffering ain't one of them.
I ain't sure of the best way of dealing with bullies. It seems the best way is let them bash somebody else and not you.
Does not answer the question. There are techniques which come be called an art form. What do you do is somebody attacks you with a raspberry?

I guess you'd have to be more specific. If you mean, do I think martial arts is ok - well, why wouldn't it be? It's actually a form of discipline.
If you mean, do I think it's ok for somebody to beat somebody up over a pair of tennis shoes - obviously not!
If you mean, do I think it's ok to go to war, then I'd have to say it depends on the circumstances. I think it was perfectly acceptable for Bush to declare war on the terrorists. THEY attacked US first, (they've been doing it for years - check your history) and they didn't attack military bases - THEY ATTACKED ORDINARY, DEFENSELESS CITIZENS and hijacked PUBLIC PLANES. What the heck was Bush supposed to do? Slap them on the wrist and say "now don't do that again?" PUH-LEEZE!!

Depends o its application. Do you mean fight for your right (to party?) in which case yes, thats somehing worth fighting for, but the term is loosely applied since it doesnt really mean fight as in fisticuffs.
Fight as in physical agression is not acceptable, but sometimes neccasary evil.

No. I believe in fighting negative QUALITIES, principally in myself.
Then maybe, when I'm on safe ground, helping instruct others, in a 'non-violent' way.

I believe in learning self defence, for the purpose of defending one's self if attacked and to keep fit. I also beleive in sports that involve combat if it is controlled. But I don't agree with needless attack or violence to solve problems.
