algoba----what does being a pilot have to do with racing a car around a track at 180 MPH dodging 35 other cars?

I don't agree with you; but I see your point. After all the weekend began with NASCAR busting Jeff and Jimmy (NASCAR's current Top Drivers) with a rules violation that was not in the rules book. The cars fit the template; but NASCAR didn't like what they saw so they penalized the Top Teams for a law not even on the books; one that they made up that very day, that very moment.

JPM seemed to borrow a fuel tank from Ryan Newman's 02 season (the fuel tank that never runs out of fuel...Ya'll remember that one.) Several cars spinned out in the closing laps and no caution was thrown.

There are alot of suspisious things that happened this weekend that make even the most seasoned NASCAR Fan go "Ummmm...."

However JPM came out of F1 which all their races are raod course races. If JPM was to score his first NASCAR Win; Sonoma would be the perfect place because he has spent most of his career on the road courses and this is where he had the greatest adavantge.

I don't agree with you Friend; but I understand you're extreme skeptisism.

I don't think there is a sport that can't be rigged. You can go back and look at all the hype the NASCAR reporters have printed leading up to the race. It was going to be Montoya or "New Daddy" Gordon. As for road-racers, Boris Said and Ron Fellows have more experience on this track in a stock car, but I didn't hear any reporters "hyping" them. Then you have the "Mystery Fuel Milage" of Robby Gordon, who had the car to beat by the way. I guess we'll find out at Watkins Glen if this was a fluke or not. (Things that make ya go Hmmmmmmmm)

My god some of you people are really un-knowlegeable about racing.

I really have to question how you reckon it could have been rigged. I knew and everyone else who isnt a Nascar only fan knew he was one of the favourites. Its a road course and he was a formula 1 driver he was bound to be far superior to anyone else on it. It just goes to show Nascar fans are Nascar fans but not racing fans.

I call myself a racing fan because i have a knowlege of other racing series not just F1 but also WRC, MotoGP, GP2, Champ/Irl, DTM and limited but growing Nascar knowlege. Now from the comments i read here pretty much zero of the Nascar fans watch any other type of racing...im sure there are some so apologies if i paint you all with the one brush.

But get real Montoya is one of the better racing drivers in the world and he was bound to excel on a road course and its only a matter of time before he gets good on ovals but he definitely needs a better car than what they've given him so far.

Again i will ask you how it could have been rigged? Surely all the drivers must have been in on it too?

and del piero: he's had two top tens on ovals and dominated the busch race in Mexico which was also on a road course. On road courses the only guy that i can see being able to compete with him is Jeff gordon.

This is not the WWF... I honestly do not see how some of you can say this kind of thing! Do you honestly thing Nascar is fixed? Why would they do such a thing?

How was he not considered a favorite. He came from F1 where all they do is run road courses, 90% of them that are more difficult than this one. However I would not have bet on Montoya because I would have figured he would blow a tire, abuse his brakes, or hurt his engine.

Nascar was born with a bunch of rednecks running moonshine across the south trying to out run the cops. From here Nascar was born... They were all American, Nascar was all the fans they can get, but its not like an election when they want the "minority" vote!

No way this race was fixed. We shouldnt have to read this kind of stuff. Its ridiculous.

Nascar auto racing is not a sport that can be fixed. Montoya was in California with a Hispanic audience cheering him on and that is a great motivator! Nascar is always wanting to expand its audience and get away from the "good ole boy" redneck mentality altho sometimes I do miss that when I hear dumb things like " Is NASCAR fixed " JEEZ

Yep, they paid off Boris Said to stall his car. Robby Gordon was in on it, he had plenty of gas and so did Jamie McMurray (he deliberately shut off his car). Tony Stewart fell back right away to make it look better. Of course they sabotaged the 24 and 48 cars so they would have the disadvantage of not being allowed to qualify. In fact ALL the crews, owners and officials were part of the conspiracy to give it to Juan, because he's so loved and a popular driver. VIVA COLUMBIA!!! Apparently Jeff and Jimmie are now out as the drivers NASCAR caters to, sniff. Now that you figured it out who do you report it to? As you can see everyone's on board with these new orders from the NASCAR officials.

No, NASCAR does make some odd calls but it seems that most of them are done with safety in mind (Debris cautions included) and alot of them are made with out the benefit of 24 hours 4000 times viewed in slow motion replays.

Im sick of conspiracy theorists.

Personally I am no fan of JPM but he is a F1 driver and SHOULD do good on a road course.

Nope!!!

Appears you don't know much about racing. Road racing is a whole different animal then driving the oval.

You will learn to NOT mess with NASCAR Fans!

No it wasn't fixed. Juan Pablo just had a Jeff Gordon kind of day. He pitted perfectly, and won when the car should have prevented him from doing so. (Gordon with steam spewing: Juan's miraculous gas abundance) The only thing he didn't do in his "Gordon style" win was race clean. But I guess 2 for 3 is good enough for him.
