Everyone needs a catch-all name, it is the modern thing to do.
And don't ya love those generalizations anyway?

noigiler,
Always love those answers like yours. And who are you to tell me what I hate?
I hate people like you who use your catch-all answers and name calling as if you actually knew something.

deazone,
cause all non-believers don't claim to be atheists outright, some just claim to be confused.

And, my friends, let's see now........
most of you believe it is OK to call people names but no one should refer to you by any name.

You generalize all the time BUT that is a one way street, you think.

Joe S,
thanks for that and you can call me one too. No problem.

I think that sounds most politically correct, and so polite. perhaps it would give them the banner of unification they seem to need.

I think Atheist is just fine. The "a" in that word stands for "not" or at times "anti". Atypical=not/anti-typical. Asymetrical=not symetrical. Let's not complicate the word by making up new ones. We already have enough slang to deal with.

Besides, I hate generalizing. It's the death of wisdom. And do you really want to be seen as an idiot?

The 'X' in 'Xian' or 'Xtian' is just Christ, kind of like Xmas. It wouldn't make sense to call atheists Xtheists, since that would be Christtheists...

Besides, adding one extra letter - an e - to make Ex-theist isn't that hard. On the other hand, not every atheist/agnostic used to be a theist. You see, there are far more binding concepts to Christianity than to Atheism/Agnosticism, so the only thing you can really attack is the lack of belief itself. Xtheist doesn't really manage to do that. It's not offensive, it just... doesn't make sense.

I don't know that all atheists were theists at one time. It could be said that I was a theist when I was young, but I'm not sure it counts because I had no idea what it was I "believed" in. As soon as I learned to think for myself, theism started falling apart.

However, if it makes you happy, you may call me an Xtheist, or an ex-theist. Although, I don't get "X'ed-outs." What does that mean to you?

I can not think of a short term for Atheists:
Reasonable humans / intelligent / un superstitious.
I can think of several more words but none is short and simple enough to satisfy the need of simpletons for short descriptive words.

Use any term you want. Christian is the catch-all word for those who believe in Jesus, before that they were called Europians.

Xtheists is a confusing term. it could be reead several ways.
ex-theists: people who used to beleive but now dont.
'Cross'-theists: Christians....

Call me a dumb*ss for all I care. It's not like it matters.

Xtheist? ex-theist? Sure, but I was never a theist to begin with. Or should I read it the way you read Xtian (where X is short for Christ)? Christtheist?

But whatever floats your boat, Steve. There's enough holes in the bottom of it already by the look of your posts.
