I don't put a lot of trust in doctors if they really frown on it... Cosmetic/plastic surgery is an offshoot of four equally horrible 20th Century Wars, at least trying to help people get their lives back on track after horrible trauma or burns of war where they lose their faces or noses and mouthes, by napalm or bombs, or etc.
What would you prefer? Them just going around looking maimed?
I don't like the abuse of it, like what they do to women's breasts, or operations that are entirely not necessary, but I guess we have to live with it if we are at least to have the former...
I've spoken to many Plastic Surgeons and they say they don't really like doing the unnecessary operations...
Anyway, what is there to look down on anyone for? If you do it shows horrible bigotry and ignorance.

I think they recognize that among cosmetic surgeons there are both good and poor doctors. Some are truly excellent surgeons, others won't turn a patient away despite the surgery not being needed (Michael Jackson, etc.).

I love my plastic surgeon (I anesthetize his patients).
He is well respected, because, in addition to cosmetic procedures, he does reconstructive surgery as well. He has a lot of doctors and doctors' wives as his patients.
There are sleazy cosmetic surgeons (I know some of them, too) and respected ones. Same goes for orthopedic surgeons, ophthalmologists, obstetricians, internists, etc.

its their chosen specialization. no questions ask. besides cosmetic surgeons are not only after money and to make those vain people look like a doll. they also do operations that can improve deformities. like for ex. those who have cleft palate.

There is rivalry and jealousy in all groups of people, not just doctors. It seems to be a part of human nature.

it's always good to get a second opinion of anything if your not sure of what the first doctor has to say.
this will open your mind to what is out there for you on any kind of surgery.
