I have 2 Shar Pei one at 4 months and the other at 7 months. The elder pup will not go out onto the grass if it is wet or even damp and urinates in the house. The younger pup has never ever done this even when its raining so I don't understand. Can anyone please help as short of following her around all the time (which I have resorted to lately) I can't think of what else I can do. I have even stood in the rain for 40 minutes with her encouraging her to wee.........heeeeeeelp !!!

Rub their nose in it?!?! Is it still the 1950s?!?

Dog training has evolved far beyond this method now. Rubbing their nose in it simply teaches dogs that you are mean and they should fear you. Encourage your pup and persevere. Continue the praise and rewards and never use fear or punishment as a way to train you dog.

You will crack it. Good luck.

animals can be quite anxious when it comes to performances if you know what i mean!
Every time she goes indoors, you have to take her to the wet patch and stick her nose in it, then take her out side and leash her to a stick on the grass.
this doesn't have to be aggressive, but everytime the dog gets put onto the grass when it wee's indoors it associates this with its action. you will train it more quickly than you think.
results everytime!

you have to show him where you want him to go, take him there, wait til he goes then reward him for going there. You teach him where you DO want him to go. Positive reinforcement for wanted behaviour.
Make a dog loo in the yard, mark it out with bricks so he can see it. Confine him indoors and on the hour take him out on the lead and wait with him til he needs to go, then reward him.

if you have males its probably marking hisscent. get them desexed and that sure will stop.
