Is a relationship without marriage unnatural? I don't think so.
Your question (if you'll forgive me) is a bit meaningless because it's all relative.
Some people quite possibly should never have children. Others will make great parents, whatever their situation.
My wife and I lived together 19 years before we got married. For nine of those years we had a daughter. She is a great kid, polite, caring and intelligent. I don't see that the marriage thing made a jot of difference in her case.
What is probably more of a problem is the casualness with which some people view their fellow (wo)men.
They lack empathy, respect or in some cases even the awareness that others are human beings, just as they, with lives, feelings and desires. You want to quote homosexuality. I shall reply suicide bombers.
Someone who regards others as his or her fellows and equals can be a very caring homosexual or unmarried parent. But they cannot be a suicide bomber. As for drinking and adultery, are they not, in part, also due to a lack of respect (for self as well as for others)?
Sorry if it's a somewhat vague answer, but your question is a bit too broad.

Ideally, every child should have the love and stability of a family that includes both a father and a mother. Realistically, this does not happen in all cases. There are divorces, both justified and unjustified. People die. Persons become pregnant out of wedlock.
The first act of love for our kids should be to try and bring them into the best possible home situation. That means no one should plan children out of wedlock. But even if a child is not born under ideal circumstances, he can still have a happy, productive childhood.

It hasn't always been this way in the United States, there were laws in place up until the late 60's early made it illegal for 2 people to live together without the benefit of marriage.
Children need security in order to thrive and be productive adults.
If more parents married and stayed together to raise their children, how many would be delinquents now?

No, marriage is the foundation and building block for everything. Children need strong family ties and stability. They need two parents that care for each other. It is important for their emotional development to have a mother and a father. They are equally important but fill different needs at each developmental age. Children take what is learned and carry it through life. It is important for future generations to keep our families strong. The most important thing two people can do for their children is love one another. Children feel secure when they see parents who care for one another and who provide a loving environment
for their children to grow in. Marriage is sacred and honorable because God created it. Raising children without marriage is not good because it sends a message to children that it is OK to live immoral lifestyles.

Providing both are good parents, and the children are well looked after and cared for, then I don't see any problem with people having children without getting married.

"Plant of the apes." Nope I missed that one.
Babies have been born on the 'wrong side of the sheets' for centuries(hell millennium) in all cultures and civilizations. Humanity didn't collapse anywhere because of this!!!!

Unfortunately we see alot of this because sex sells in Western culture, and the media makes it look ok to do whatever with whomever you want and not worry about the consequences. It is for each individual to try to do the right thing and live right as God wanted us to do in the first place.

No religion permits living together or drinking or homosexuality? Goodness, study other religions for once.
Anyways, I think we should stop having kids altogether, married or not.
