Has Islam brought anything good?

I personally say yes, and so do historians and others in various fields of practice. What do you think judging from the quote?

"In the words of PROF. HURGRONJE:

"The league of nations founded by the prophet of Islam put the principle of international unity and human brotherhood on such universal foundations as to show candle to other nations." He continues: "The fact is that no nation of the world can show a parallel to what Islam has done towards the realization of the idea of the League of Nations.""

When Muslims practiced it properly, following the Qur'an and Sunnah, Islam has brought peace and unity for mankind. Though under the current situation, the so called Muslim rulers have brought other than what Allah has commanded. Thus the so called Muslim world is in Chaos and disillusion. If the Muslims are to reach their potential as a mercy and guidance to all mankind, then they must once again pick up the Qur'an and Sunnah. This will require them to leave all of their own personal goals. Though Islam has brought much good, and those who practice it (Muslims) have also contributed greatly to humanity. Muslims will once again become contributers when they start to follow Islam properly once again.

I think you need to separate Islam the religion from the people who practice Islam.

Islam itself, like any religion is a man-made concept that is potentially neutral but can be used for either good or bad. I'm sure it's possible to argue that Islam has bought peace benefits to many people however it has also been hijacked and twisted by some for the purposes of terror and control.

Islam itself didn't make mathematical advances or discoveries, these were made by people who just happened to be Muslims and I see no reason why such men of learning and reason could not have made identical advances if they were catholic, hindu or atheist as Islam contains nothing special in terms of promoting maths or science.

I personally think that the first Muslim generation (the companions) were the best example of how Islam has the power to change dramatically the life of humans from wasteful to most precious and productive in all aspects of human relations and material advances. I was reading recently the bibliography of some of those companions and I was totally amazed of their high standards of both spiritual and material aspects which could be very difficult to join together. On the grounds of their efforts the long lasting Islamic civilization was established.

No body is against islam, they are against islamist. (who practises islam ie practices violence in name of islam)

i would say if islam is not there, these violent people would have converted their country into the country like america and would have made this world a hell. May be islam has bound them in chain, established peace.

Radical Islam has brought worldwide terrorism. More Muslims are killing other Muslims. I don't consider that a good example of unity or a league of nations.
BTW why do Muslims frequently plagarize other people's ideas, claiming them as originating in Islam?

LETS JUST HAVE A SIMPLE COMPARISON. LOOK AT THE STATE OF ALL OF THE ISLAM COUNTRIES AND THE OTHER COUNTRIES. AND ANOTHER CLASSICAL EXAMPLE- ANCIENT EGYPTIANS WERE COPTIC EGYPTIANS AND EGYPT WAS BLOOMING UNDER THERE RELIGION. SINCE THE HYKSOS(ARABS) HAVE TAKEN OVER LOOK AT THE STATE OF IT, THAT IS IF YOU HAVE BEEN TO EGYPT RECENTLY.
