both items can be frozen but they cannot be used again like the fresh state you started out with.
both contain so much water that when frozen it breaks down
their structure...they are like rags.....
You can freeze tomatoes if you want to use them for cooking soups and sauces...that is the only way you can use them after being put in the freezer..
..
the best way to use tomatoes in the summer is to eat them, freeze for later use in pasta sauces...or to can them in glass jars...then you have them for a year until next summer....
One last way to preserve the tomatoes.DRYING.
slice thin and place on a cookie sheet and bake them in the oven..on very low heat 200 degrees for a long time with a fan blowing on them if you have a convection oven..they become very crisp and.they are reduced in size but can be put in glass jars for long storage. Then when needed can be added to water to bring them back to life for whatever recipe you are using. if you have parchment paper it's a good idea to use this so it's easier to remove them from the baking pan.
good luck with your tomatoes...forget the lettuce....

Onions? Yes, but I'd slice or chop first. I've never heard of freezing fresh tomatoes without making into sauce-canning? Yes. Freezing? No. Lettuce? Nope. Strawberries freeze, but will be soft when defrosted, just like the ones you buy in freezer section of market. A week is a long time for most fresh veggies, though to get the best results buy a salad spinner. Core and wash your lettuce, then spin away. I then put the spinner with lid in fridge and it lasts at least 4 days. Tomatoes, buy underripe and put them in a paper bag 24-48 hours before you want to use. They'll ripen in the bag-on the COUNTER. Don't put tomatoes in fridge.

You can chill lettuce for a short period to keep fresh and crisp. Tomatoes you can freeze to use them when you cook a dish which requires tomatoes. Frozen tomatoes can't be used in salads

You can not freeze lettuce. You can freeze tomatoes if you are going to be using them in your cooking such as in Indian/Pakistani dishes, soups, stews, spaghetti sauce, etc. but you can not freeze them and then use the on a salad.

Not really - far too high water content.
Freeze tomatoes in soup or something like that works well though!
