well here is an interesting question, are you on any medication like prednisone. Why i ask is this, my hair used to be limp and straight and wouldn't curl, now........it is like i have had a spiral perm and i can't straighten it. There are some hair products out there that will help as apposed to the harsh chemicals at the salon. Frictis has some good products for doing a variety of things to hair. hope this helps

Maybe it's the straightener you own, maybe it will be worth it to invest in a more expensive brand, like CHI. :)
