Drink some herbal tea. There's a kind called "Sleepytime" from Celestial Seasonings. It works for me.

Eating protein. It wears the body out to digest it. (Like at Thanksgiving when all the relatives are passed out from eat Turkey) Also cut ALL caffinated beverages out. Caffeine stays in the body for HOURS causing sleep dificiencies. Go to bed at the same time every night. This will set your internal clock so that you become used to it. Take a warm shower, turn down the lights and prepare your body for bedtime. Also I keep a solitare game next to my bed. As I lay in bed, the game distracts my mind so that I am not thinking of all the things that I need to do and soon, I am tired.

I find that I am physically but not mentally tired at night. So I keep a book by my bed, and read myself to sleep. Nothing too engrossing or exciting, just something that catches my fancy.

Take melatonin pills.

Warning: If you do not get at least 8 hours of sleep you may wake up extremely groggy. These pills are strong.
