And why is it wrong ? What would happen is this escapist dream of some evangelicals who do not know scripture but rather read Tim la Haye books did not materialize ?

I mean the escapism of having Jesus come back in between to do a pickup and then return again later. Isn't it obvious that this is neither scriptural but a big lie. anyone can twist scripture, but the logic will never add up on the whole unless its right.

Khnoppf71, what do you mean by comfort. Schindler's list was a true story, it was not false. Does it really make any sense that Christians will "escape" the tribulation ? It appears that it will have more an opposite efect (apostasy) when it (so-called rapture) does not materialize. It appears more to be a tool of the devil to induce false hope. the real and true hope should be that jesus Christ will return not that he will perform a rapture beforehand.

Like all shams, of which the entirety of entertainment can be found, it has less to do with what is/will be than as a comfort to today.
If "Left Behind" is a sham, so is "Gone with the Wind", so is "Schindler's List" (not real, actual footage, so dramatized, and therefore a sham) so is "Happy Feet", etc etc etc.
The purpose of such books was not to 'detail' the last days ("If anyone tells you at that time, 'Look, the Messiah is here... do not believe it. False messiahs and false prophets will appear, performing signs and wonders so great as to mislead even the chosen if that were possible") but to comfort those who found faith in them to persevere. If it helped only a single person maintain their faith, such was their purpose, nothing more.

I didn't think good Christians were allowed to read anything other than the Bible?
Bibliolatry: A form of idolatry, resulting from the acceptance of the Bible as an error free rendition of divine inspiration. So much authority is assigned to the Bible that it, in effect, becomes the object of worship.
— Howard M. Teeple
I do not like your Bible verse,
It makes no sense, it is too terse,
It is devoid of all context,
What will your Holy Book say next?
I do not like your Bible verse,
it seems to go from bad to worse.
— Niall McAuley
The Church has through the centuries, understood that ideas are really more dangerous than other weapons. Their use should be restricted. The Church doesn't believe in book-burning, but it believes in restricting the use of dangerous books among those whose minds are unprepared for them.
— Francis J. Lally, American Roman Catholic Monsignor, Mike Wallace Interview, Fund for the Republic, 1958]
We found a great number of books...and since they contained nothing but superstitions and falsehoods of the Devil we burned them all.
— Catholic Bishop Diego De Landa, after burning priceless books of Mayan history and science, July 1562
Burn the libraries, for their value is in this one book (the Koran).

You should see a little movie called "The Rapture" with Mimi Rogers. Think being left behind is scary? Think again.

I thought after the first book it was a pretty good read. I disagreed with much of the theology and how they derived the scenario but I didn't think it was a bad read.

i don't...while we don't know what will happen at the rapture, i think it gives some decent insight into it...and an illustration of the biblical prophecies that are to come true.
but that's just my opinion...

It's not going to happen, and the fact that anyone would want it to happen is appalling.
