It does not hurt God if anyone questions his existence. It is in not believing He exists that He is hurt despite the truth in the bible that tells us He does and in the evidences we see around us. And you're right - we have the ability to question but when the question is answered through many proofs or evidences to its being a fact, then, normally we believe the fact as it is. However, there are still a lot of us who continue to deny the fact or the truth as pure invention or lie even if it has already been proven and has been accepted as true.

It doesn't. In fact He positively encourages it. In fact when a person finally asks Him to show Himself He will happily do so but not when the desire is false such as it being used as a test. Don't play games with God. He shows Himself in the sunset, the birds in your garden, the flowers, the sky, in a smile, in friendship and in sacrifice as well as the sun and the moon and the stars at night, the wind and the forest. But you have to be looking for Him with a deep desire or you will not find Him. He is ultimately revealed in Jesus. You who question His existence have a right to expect serious and helpful answers from those of us who know He exists. What is the point of knowledge unless it can be passed on? It costs us nothing except a little time. I have no idea where you got the notion that God is hurt when people questions his existence.

If you question your parents love for you will your mother not cry? will your father not feel pain? of course they will but i promise you, they will not let you go to the wild party that your friend's cousin is throwing this weekend. They will still keep your butt at home so that you are safe.
Once you get old enough they can't stop you but they will still worry about you, and if you marry and have children and they never see them, they will still exist, whether your children see them or not.
God is like that. He sits and waits patiently for you to stop being stupid and come visit no matter how much you have done. He is your Father, too.

You're answering a minority of the religious crowd.
It would be like me taking your answer as representing all atheists. It's silly.
1) It doesn't hurt God. I doubt any of his angels notice.
2) You can question all you want, but like a person who ignores someone saying, "A bus is coming, don't step into the road" to someone who doesn't believe in buses, it's kind of stupid to blame the person who warned you, the bus, or the road if you become road kill. It isn't about vengeance, or "being sent to hell" or any of that. It's about clearly listed consequences that are part of reality that we choose to ignore.
My Christian hat now off (it's not mine, just borrowed): I'm not a Christian, but the plaint of the oppressed Free Thinker burrows into my brain like broken chalk on a chalk board.
I'm surprised more atheists don't point it out when it gets this silly. They're some of the smartest people I know, and have a lot more respect for themselves than to play "Victim".

I thought it was Santa Claus that hurt so much when we questioned his existence. After all, he brings kids toys. What has God done to show he exists? It seems that most relgious energy is spent on coming up with explanations about why they should believe in somethng without evidence.

Who decides?
The puppet-masters; interpreters of the holy books; scammers of the gullible.
Invisible Sky Critters are a construct to keep the easily fooled and easily lead, under the domination of the Parasites and Leeches who give themselves benign titles like Reverend and Father so they can get money without working from the naïve.
Ultimately the decision comes down to each of us; do you want to be a slave or not?

It doesn't hurt God...Stop believing the texts. I know its hard because they are so old and so believable, but who is to say the texts are in their original wording? anyone could have changed something at anytime. We are going to question because it keeps us looking for answers, and without questions we would not have gone into space, or discovered new worlds, or created time or any of that. God wants us to question so we can learn to use our brains to its full capacity. Once the human race is able to use their brains in its entirety we will have the greatest understanding and relationship with God. Please just be unique and believe what you want to believe not what you think you have to believe. No religion is 100% accurate. We don't know. Sure people talk to God and He responds, but in todays society it doesn't matter if He does or not.

You are assuming too much. It doesn't hurt god when we humans question his existance. He doesn't care because if he is the real god, the one and only, then he would know all people will come to him eventually.

We were given the choice because God loved us enough to not force us to do anything. He gave us accountability. As you got older your parents gave you more choices and allowed you to do more because they learned to trust you. If you make a bad choice and had to suffer the consequences for it, it still hurt your parents but they want you to make mistakes to learn for yourself.

We are given by G-d the ability to question everything so we can be free.
However, the Creator tells us what advice to follow:
"[...] I have set before thee life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore choose life, that thou mayest live, thou and thy seed" (Deuteronomy, 10, 19)
That means that we are free to choose, but G-d tells us what is the good election to make: to chose life over death.
Another way of saying that we are free to choose which was written by the Jewish sages is that "Everything is in the hands of Heaven except the fear of Heaven." (Talmud)
