Nah I think you should leave the animal alone. Rich girls who dye their dogs are just looking for attention. You don't even know whether their dogs like it or not.

Do not use any kind of commercial dye, as this could be harmful for your rat. However, it is possible to dye your rat's fur using plain old Kool-Aid, as long as his fur is a fairly light color to begin with. Mix the powder (in this case, use a flavor with blue coloring!) with a little less water than the package suggests, and do NOT add sugar. You can then use the liquid like a paint of sorts and gently apply it to your rat's fur. Believe it or not, I have actually seen this, successfully, on several different occasions.
A word of caution, though: This can be very stressful for a rat who is not used to new situations. Be sure that your rat feels comfortable being handled, and stop if he becomes agitated.

Dying your rat's fur is highly inadvisable and completely unnecessary. People dye their hair as a matter of preference (to cover gray, to stand out, to change their appearance). I doubt your rat wants to do any of those things. And I guess I'm confused as to why someone who puts themselves in the category of "goth" would want to follow the trends of "rich girls". When did paris hilton become cool for the goth crowd?? And to answer you question...YES!! IT IS DANGEROUS TO DYE YOUR PET'S FUR! You don't know what's in the hair dye or how the rat's system will metabolize the chemicals in it. I simply hate it when people put there pet's through unnecessay tortures! It's a pet not an accessory.

Don't dye your rat. Washing the dye out will cause it a lot of stress and you might end up getting dye in its eyes.
Also, the dye used on dogs is probably some kind of vegetable dye developed specifically for animals. Your rat is your pet, not a Barbie doll to play with.

Rich girls can be kind of superficial, selfish, and spoiled and that's why they subject their dogs to a human foible like caring way too much about how things look.
If a person has enough substance to them to own a rat as a pet rather than a more conventional itsy bitsy pooch, I believe that person could accept her rat's natural beauty and let the beast have as much peace and happiness as it can get. Living in a cage is stressful enough--be nice to the rattie and leave him be.

I wouldn't risk it. Besides rats are very clean animals and it will just make him spend every waking hour cleaning trying to get it off him.
No way does your rat weigh 5 pounds, that's like a small cat!

well...it depends on what dye you use. if its human hair dye then no. its too toxic and he might lick it off. they have special animal dye that its safe to use on there skin. look it up online and order some or look around in pet shops or grooming places. be safe and do research instead of doing this yourself. some rich girls dont know any better and hurt there dogs, so good luck on this

This is really a question for someone who knows about rats, not random people on the internet.

the way they lick their fur, it can cause some problems... I would suggest food coloring or coolaid to dye it. Though it doesnt last long, your rat wont become sick
