It seems to be the flavour of the day!
If you are so firm in your convictions and secure in your faith why do you feel the need to attack and insult them so much? What threat do they pose to you? Why do you feel like you need to ridicule their belief? Is it like the bully in a school yard who only feels validated when they push someone else down?
Do you realise how pety and juvinile you make yourselves seem?
Wow !!! Give them a break! You dont even give us pagans that much grief!
Blessed Be!

Yes this is religion AND spirituality...... Not Christians only!!! Just because some one will not accept the bible ot the concept of god does not mean they are not spiritual!!!

You hit the nail on the head. They are trying to validate their beliefs by winning a competition against those who don't follow the strict guidelines and beliefs that they have to follow to get into heaven. They know that most atheist party and enjoy life without such restrictions or worries. Deep down inside they envy atheist but are afraid that if they choose that road they will go to hell. They are torn between the world they live in and the world they desire. They fear God. This is an age old thing. New to atheist but not new to the world. Man created God so he could fight about who's God is the real God.

Because the atheists are so obsessed with the Christians. Go see how often they say anything to the Muslims and as for you pagans the atheists don't seem to take you serious enough to focus on you. It hardly matters what the Christian question is there is an atheist saying "No such thing" and then the less mature ones saying some trite comment. At least you guys get to have complete conversations. I enjoy discussion and debate but seldom does it occur. It is usually " Nope you are wrong because you believe in something" Do they do that to you guys to?
Ariel Nothing personal I have friends of many beliefs and have held many beliefs overtime. ( I could tell you some pagan stories) But it just seems that The art of discussion is lost And people aren't even looking for the best answer to their questions as much as the one that furthers their diatribe.Such as the person who asked why Christians weren't asking any good questions and rather than saying anything or responding to any comments his answer was because they can't. Not very erudite or respectful was it?

Obviously, a very large percentage of the questions which I ask are directed towards atheists. There are some examples of friendly, caring, good atheists, like yourself. If I can make someone think differently about things, I feel like it's worthwhile to ask controversial or unique questions. I like to challenge the status quo. I could be wrong, but I think that part of my purpose in life is to reach out to people. I don't always go about this in the right way, but I am working on that.

Hey now don't let a few bad apples ruin the whole bunch for you!! I don't pick on atheists...I do like to pick their brains though I look at it as a learning experience...I think the meanest I have ever been was to a "Christian" on here...There are bad ones in every group..there are also some really mean atheists on here that no matter how nice you answer them they get nasty..I guess it is a good thing we don't have to look into each others eyes..there would be a lot of ashamed and embarrassed individuals in all the religious/non religious sects..People get really gutsy when they are on line..I always reread my answers, and on occasion I have hit delete instead of submit because they just weren't nice...But hey we not perfect just forgiven..Oh and I don't think they pick on pagans as much because at least you believe in something..(I think maybe that's the mindset...who knows)

Because they are losing power as the decades go by.
A secular world is seen as a threat.
Now the paradox is the secular world is responsible for many advances through technology. Technology is practically applied science. These advances are part of our daily life.
Computers, Airplanes, cell phones, autos...they all run on predictable scientific principles and behave as predicted by the laws of physics billions of times per day.
Atheists have no problem with dropping something that belongs in our superstitious past and leaving it there.
Christians (at least the most radical Fundamentalist sects) cling to this power of the past, in spite of the glaring unavoidable fact that if you live in a modern technological world, you live in a world where biology, genetics, astronomy, paleontology, and physics are all true and proof is all around you. Ergo, the Bible cannot be interpreted literally and must be acknowledged to be a certain amount of superstition.
Atheists are a human target when this contradiction becomes too frustrating for someone.

Well if the you where like the Christians you would feel a little insecure like they do when they ridicule a pagan after all since they've tried to steel most of their saviors accounts and miracle's from the pagan world well; I think we can understand after all they are just children in the great scheme of things and especially since they've tried and failed to snuff pagans out ... and your totally right they are trying the bully tactic a little too much they are just mad because it didn't work the first time they tried it.

That's a bit of a generalisation. I'm sure some Christians act in the way you describe but I'd say they were a minority. You can't label us all for the actions of a few. If Christians are obsessed with athiests it should only be from the point of view of showing them love and acceptance. God loves us all equally, Christians and non Christians alike and when we remember that we have no reason to ever put anyone else down.

I know, I can't get over how acidic some people get when defending thier faith. I am sure that whatever GOD they believe in would not be happy about the meanness and non-empathy that spews from christians towards us atheists.
Atheist used to be a word used as an insult (and still is by some people) luckily people have the right to chose what they believe or do not believe in now. No More spainish inquisition "thank GOD" for that... Ha Ha whatever.
Peace to all.

well...as christians it's our mission to try and save souls from what we believe would be an eternity in hell.

however, many christians go about doing that the wrong way, because all they do is insult atheists. they believe that because they believe in God they are better than someone who doesn't.

im sorry you have to listen to people like that...i most certainly do not wish to attack you in any way, and i apologize. there are some of us out there that aren't like that, i hope you'll see that through some of our actions.

basically, the stance i take is...i respect your beliefs, and if you ever have questions or want to know more, i am more than willing to talk to you about what i believe. i will not in any way try to force it on you...if you don't want to talk about it, i respect that.

("you" meaning atheists as a whole; i don't mean you in particular. sorry if it came out that way, lol).

and for all the christians that complain that we get attacked too, and we're a punching bag...well, if you call yourself a believer, are you not supposed to turn the other cheek? im sure jesus wasn't complaining when he was NAILED to the cross...maintaining a victimized attitude will not get you anywhere, believe me....the christian thing to do is to show respect to everyone, whether they respect you or not.

I personally can't speak for all christians. I am a firm believer in God and the afterlife.....But who are we to judge the non believers? or anyone for that matter. In our bible we are to love EVERYONE with open arms.....sins are sins no matter how big or small they may be......we are not supposed to judge ppl, God is to judge ppl. I do not like the way that our belief is portrayed and its mostly christians fault. They have no right to talk bad about gays, athiest, or anyone for that matter. These types of ppl sit high and mighty on their thrones thinking they are doing "whats right for God" when in reality they are doing so wrong by judging someone. God loves all his children and HE made them the way THEY are......This is the exact reasons why I don't go to church. most christians are hyprocrits........in fact im considered a "whore" because i have had children out of wedlock. although me and the father have been together soley for eight years most christians don't see it that way. They are speaking for God and thats a BIG NO NO! i have a few friends who don't believe and NEVER have i pushed my religion on them, its not my place.......we will all see in the end im sure.......I was not happy about them banning Gay marriages......marriage isn't sacred anymore, its exploited on tv on a daily basis......so who cares what or who anyone wants to marry? I personally can't see not believeing in anything but hey its YOUR choice and although being a christian myself just tell them to F*CK OFF and mind their own business:)
