definetly...but using powdered protein supplements is more cost effective.
to stimulate the muscles effective shoot for 2-3 sets of 8-10 reps. each set should take about 45-60 seconds as this is optimum to stimulate hypertrophy. when you can do all 8-10 reps on the last with proper form it's time to increase the training load by 10%. using progressive resistance is how you force the muscles to adapt and grow stronger. if there is a caloric excess in your diet, and you are consuming enough of the right nutrients then muscle mass will increase.
for maximum gains in muscle mass you need to focus on the diet. 40% protein, 40% carbohydrates and 20% fats works for most. start counting calories and increase them each week by 10% until weight gain occurs. consume a balanced meal every 3-4 hours and a health snack if you are hungry. drink a protein shake made with a blended protein about 30 minutes before bedtime. 60% of muscle growth occurs at night but only if there are sufficient nutrients available
there are no side effects from amino acids. and forget about asking a general practice MD about nutritional supplements. the are not trained in the filed and typically know less than the idiot that works at GNC that hypes up Cell Tech

Yeah, you should take aminos and protein powder. There are no side effects really, its just the stuff that is in protein. I think you should eat more too or get weight gainer shakes if you are thin. Aminos and protein powder alone wont really do much if you are not consuming enough calories a day, and when I say enough, I dont mean a certain number of calories, but enough for you. Basically, I mean that you need to be eating more calories than your body burns so there is enough left over to build and repair muscle.

I agree with ONE thing the trainer said--don't ask your MD. But who you should ask--a Dietitian (RD). These are the ONLY trained & certified experts on food & nutrition. The average trainer may know more about nutrition than the average doctor, but niether should be your "go to" professional. Since I always refer people interested in muscle/strength training to a trainer, I would expect the same courtesy from them.
First things first...
You DO NOT need 40% protein to build your muslces. In fact, most people already get too much protein these day, which is--BY FAR, adequate to help build muslces. If for some reason you are only getting a normal amount of protein (.8 gm/kg body weight)--which is atypical for Americans, then you WILL need extra protein to help bulk up. Might I suggest an extra glass of milk, yogurt or 2 pieces of chicken rather than one...
Yep, that's it--that's all the extra you would need. Do NOT waste your money on amino acids--just eat them! And just for the record--you also need CARBOHYDRATES to build muscle!
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Hi,
I've tried so many different diets in the last 10 years that I can say now, they don't work!
A few months ago, I came across a great product for weight loss and like many others I was skeptical about it. But I really wanted to lose weight and I tried it. The results were excellent and I lost 20 pounds in 2 months. I felt fantastic and I dropped another 5 pounds safely. That's why I recommend you check this product at
http://www.freelstore.info where they have a free trial and you only pay 6.95$ shipping and handling.
Good luck!

Never take any supplements without consulting a Physician first. Everything you ingest has an affect on your HEART, liver, kidneys, spleen and other organs. Also supplements can have fatally damaging outcomes, be a naturally fit person it lasts longer, and has less chance of organ failure.
