Is the CT scan a total body or targeting a specific area?
I had one in my shoulder and it hurt again and again. The doctor was aiming for the shoulder joint and kept missing. That was for a MRI.
Then I had a CT for my neck and upper chest and it was done through an IV and it was painless.

Been through this. They inject it in the inside of your elbow just like drawing blood. You will feel a cold sensation. And no, it doesn't hurt. I am scared of needles and to be honest, getting your blood drawn hurts more than this.

Barium is used for examination Of the stomach Or the intestines. if it's for the stomach you will have to drink the barium. If it's for the intestines they will place it in you using a enema which is not extremely comfortable. Barium is a chalky white substance that makes it easy for the scan to see any problems in the GI system.

They will place a small butterfly IV in the crease of your elbow, inside.
It hurts less than having blood taken. And even less the more you relax.
The dye dosn't hurt one bit but does make you feel very warm and like you have wet your pants.
But they will tell you this before giving the injection.

No - just relax. I always say stand on quietly and all will be revealed. The most upsetting thing about all these procedures is usually the speculation ahead of the event. Good luck

Don't watch and you won't feel it at all.
