especially on the religion section, lol...questions that people ask for clarification on an issue (e.g., a question i answered about predestination) are littered with answers from people who seek to do nothing more than rebuke the person that answered the question. if i ask a question to a bunch of believers like myself, im going to get a majority of answers just saying stuff like "God doesn't exists."

if these people are so logical in their belief that God doesn't exist, why can't they be logical in the sense that they don't need to answer a question that doesn't pertain to them? some of us aren't here to argue, you know...sometimes we like to discuss things.

It does not matter how you ask the question, (any question) some one is going to come up with a (that's a stupid question dummy) attitude.

Don't matter who you are or what you ask, it will happen.

Ask it in a nice way and you will get spit on, ask it in a knowing way and you get spit on.

If you see a question that has already been answered the way you would answer it, then why not give a thumbs up to the answer and move on?

If you see a question that is really a bad answer why not just give it a thumbs down and move on, instead of degrading the person and answer that you don't like.

But! if you do that, then everyone has a heart attack and gets upset cause you are using the thumbs up/down the way it is supposed to be used.

Your best bet is, if you are on here long enough you learn who tries to answer the questions from their heart (whether you agree with them or not) and don't pay any attention to anyone other than the ones you know are sincere.

(and check their profile alot of people pretend to be what they are not, some profiles show that and if they have not way to email them, I try to ignore the question if it seems (?) most times it is not sincere.

When I say "you" by the way I am talking about "anyone" not you personally.

And to be honest I am a Christian but if I read an answer from another Christian or (non-Christian) that is rude or contains nasty language (I BLOCK THEM, EVEN IF IT IS NOT MY QUESTION) I am not on here to make points or play games, or read something I don't want on my question if I ask one.

Jon,

What's scarier is they might actually think they're giving a good answer. People are STUPID when it comes to religion. I mean...beyond what they are in other subjects.

Answering a religion question well usually involves understanding a lot of historical background to the question as well as understanding what has been thought throughout the history of the faith. That is true even if you're answering from an atheist's perspective.

Many people just think their knee jerk reaction answer is a quality one. To anyone that studied it, it's like hearing someone ask, "What's 34+75+92?" and hearing someone else shout, "186."

(The answer, by the way, is 201)

I partially wish I never studied religion so I didn't have to painfully read some of the answers in the forum.

You are so right.. they just spark more anger to the true believers or to those whom are interested to seek real answers. I don't understand why they have to answer when they are not interested with the question, they might as well just skip the question, like what I do...

Plus some people answer just to get more points... you know, by answering a simple...NO or YES they get 2 points easily...
And another thing I'm not satisfied with is when, people whom answer with statement such as " what a stupid question?!?"
I don't think that there are any stupid question, if people were to ask a question, I'm sure it is for a reason. And It can be for any reason at all...

Personally for me, I like to discuss matters and get answer and also learn from it. I believe there are some like us too, but as much as there are people like us, there are also people that treat it as a fun thing to do... therefore, they tend to give ridiculous remarks or answer (not all but there are minority that do that)...

So, I hope I answered your question....

I took a look at your profile. (you are welcome to do the same to mine, just click on my picture) I had the same problem, as everyone else that has been here for a while has. Try to think of this site as an open air market place for ideas. People are shouting, trying to get other peoples attention. Others are arguing the value of what someone else has to offer. A few, realizing the value of what they have to offer, sit back, and watch the crowd for a bargain. It looks chaotic at times, but be patient, and try to develop a network of friends (I see you have two fans, that's a good start)

Or, you could go private, down periscope, so to speak....

when we ask a question on here examples are given if that same question has been asked before, or very similar questions have been asked before. So the asker can clearly see "God does not exist' has been asked over and over and over. But they ask again anyway!!!

It's because most questions are asked in an argumentative way, so that it becomes a reflex to many to answer all in that mode. If more people asked honest questions meant to gain knowledge, the average answer would be more genuine.

Because this is, basically, an open forum. If you want responses from only those with whom you agree, I suggest that you find a forum that exists for that purpose.

the same way babe, when it's a discussion according to them, it's arguing to us and the opposite way. so the keyword is you have to be open heart and open mind to accept any possibilities of the answers that you might receive and yes it's right, it depends on your questions and how you ask.

the worst thing is -- the people who ask or answer without any intent other than to preach their cult nonsense to others.
