The bible is a load of BS. It says man was created first so a man could claim his superiority to women!
If anything females came earlier according to science otherwise there would be no use for nipples on a male! The female body is the template for all animals. Males evolved from females came into existence later to diversify the genepool to develop our immunity as a species.
I'm a man by the way!

I love this question because it is so fun to answer.

Lets say that Adam started out with thirteen ribs.

God took one and using it, created Eve...with twelve ribs so they would match.

I am of course being facitious but I think that answer is so obvious that it is funny.

I don't really know why men and women have the same number. I don't think it says anywhere that Eve got the extra rib. It just says that God made eve from the rib.

God used Stem Cells to replace Adams Rib.

Seriously, the "rib" analogy was used to show ONE THING. That Eve was not from Adams Head and "over him" or from Adam's Feet and "under him." Instead, by being from his rib, she was from his side AND EQUAL TO HIM as a human!

She was called his Helpmeet (meaning someone who, while not equal to, is a respected and much loved member of a workgroup). Why not equal to in work? Because Adam was older, he had already named every animal on earth and other things. Eve had just been created and had a lot to learn. It was no disrespect to her or her position as his wife! She was much loved and respected by both Adam and God!

If you take a look at the Hebrew manuscripts, you will notice that in Genesis 2:21, the "rib" verse, the word actually used was "tsela." (spelling?) Anyways, "tsela" means "side chamber." "Side chamber" is simply a part of Adam, not the actual bone "RIB." God made Adam with Eve inside of him, but God took Eve out by taking out this part of Adam. It is believed that the "side chamber" actually contained the female reproductive system, and God made Eve around that. If you notice in Genesis 5:2, God called their name "Adam." Eve was inside of Adam.

Also, you will notice that if you have a King James version, you see the correction in the translation: "side." Eve was taken from his side so that Adam would love her. Hope that helps. For more info, www.gotquestions.org.

They dont. Women have one more set than men do. Found in the lower back...Even if what you say is true the rib was taken from Adam not every man. Because man are the offspring of Adam and Eve. Just because a person is borne without a lung or kidney doesnt mean their offspring will have one lung or kidney...

hope this clarifies things a bit

I have a story to go with this. A student actually brought up the point up in a biology class my friend was taking in college.

The teacher had a female skeleton and a male skeleton there. He invited her up to count the ribs. **SHE KEPT COUNTING THEM** trying to find the one where the male had 1 less.

They were all laughing at her. She finally sat down, but I think she doubted her counting rather than seeing the fact that she was wrong.

It must have been a good time!

that's silly. God used Adam's rib to make Eve. After that babies were born just like today with all their ribs. If I donate a kidney to my sister would that mean all my daughters would only be born with one kidney?

Historical myth, doesnt say anywhere that the number of ribs would be the benchmark
that wemon came from man as present
evidence.

Now thats just silly.

You, as a woman, have an extra rib!

This is gene wise XX rather than the XY chromosome. G-d made woman from the genetic code he used for man.

Ok.. so men and women have the same physical amount of ribs. Men and Women can both have floating ribs, other wise its a pair of 12 (24).

But do you know where Adams skeleton is kept?
