Anything with a catchy riff is usually enjoyable to learn, fun to play and an attention grabber in front of an audience.
The Theme from Peter Gunn, composed by Henri Mancini, is great and not that hard to play. A Google search of the name puls the word "tabs" will bring up a few different versions.
Another catchy one is Ventura Highway by Gerry Beckley of the group America. All of America's songs are tabbed on their fan site at
http://www.accessbackstage.com/america/
under the heading Chords. It might be worth looking at because even though they are soft rock compared to Pink Floyd, Gerry Beckley's musicality is excellent for learning on.
More challenging is Classical Gas by Mason Williams. This instrumental for guitar is extremely satisfying to play once you master it and is a guaranteed hit with an audience. I found the best tabs on http://www.fretplay.com/tabs/w/williams_mason/classical_gas-tab.shtml
Have you listened any of Jose Feliciano's albums? He will inspire you to have a go at pretty much anything on the guitar and to put your own stamp on it, like he did. Listening to other great guitar soloists like Tommy Emmanuel, Eric Clapton and the penultimate Jimi Hendrix might give you some more good ideas.
If you are more into rock, I suggest the music of the 70's rock groups. Their rock was more melodic and instrument-driven. Many of those guys had degrees in music or had previously been classical musicians, so you are improving your own craftsmanship as well as increasing your repertoire when you learn their songs. Listen to anything by Queen but make sure you don't miss Bohemian Rhapsody. Others include Lynard Skynard; CSNY; Eagles; Doobie Brothers; Creedance Clearwater Revival at the lighter end through to the heavier Cream (Clapton); Deep Purple; Led Zepplin; Blood, Sweat and Tears... there are many many many more!!
The top 10 guitar solos, according to the results of a survey carried out by AboutGuitars.com, are listed on their site and in easier-to-read format at

Good luck! I hope you find lots of new possibilities from all the good suggestions on this site.

Go back to the Sixties folk boom. Dylan's early stuff- eg: Blowin in the Wind, Tambourine Man. how about Miss American Pie? Beatles stuff: You've Got to Hide Your love Away, Yellow Submarine. U can buy books of acoustic songs as well. John Denver sounds good -Country Roads, Annie's Song. If U want a fingerstyle instrumental, Anji by Bert Jansch is a whole lot of fun to play. Early Rock'n'Roll is also good - Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, etc. Hope this helps.

I'm working on "Wish You Were Here" myself. Any tips? Anyway.... I don't really play acoustic much. Stairway to Heaven works okay. The intro, at least.
Where did you learn "Wish You Were Here" from? Tabs? Someone you know?
