I got charged with possession of alcohol. I am 17 years old. They found it in the trunk of my car which was parked. How much trouble will I get in? Will my license be suspended until I'm 18?

How did they get into your trunk?
Did you give them permission? (I hope not)
Did your dad or older brother have use of the car pryor to your using it? was it theirs?

Most states now I think will pull your license. now in Texas the DPS will charge $1000.00 for three years over what the courts will fine you. As I understand it many others are following this. This will stay on your perminent record (not the 5 year record)
This will raise your insurance quit noticably.(maybe double or more)

I think some of your advicer here will probably ask which State you are in, I donot know about your law regarding possession of alcohol.

But just reading your story that you are charged with just possession of alcohol that's it, I think this charge is just a bit minor even if you are 17 yrs. old, and also a minor. I donot think you have to go to jail because of these incident? I think your license, which I pressume you are talking about driving license, wouldn't eventually be suspended unless this is your 19th times arrested for the same offense. Cheer up, its not the end of the world kid. Enjoy life. Next time if you decide to drink used the trash canned to throw away empty bottles or if they are unused ones why not used your refrigerator at home.

Well for one thing if it was parked, and you left the car, I sure hope that whoever that cop was that found that alcohol in your trunk had a warrant. If he looked in there without any type of permission, then he should be suspended from the Dept. Also did someone else put it the trunk? Did someone else use the car before you? Those are your best arguments right there.

You violated section 25662 B&P MINOR POSSESS ALCOHOL; also they nailed you for possessing in a vehicle; you were warned about this and did it anyway!

Your license is history; probation, a fine. Do it again and you will do time in the hall, Big Fine, License suspended till your 21...

The fact it was a parked car makes it slightly different; somehow they pinned it to you alone.

Each state has different rules regarding Minor in Possession.... I will tell you the cleaner your criminal record, the better the plea and/or sentence. It's ok to just have one consultation with an attorney about this. I work for an attorney, and my boss will tell someone what their options are and what the possibilities are if they are convicted, in the first consultation. Some people hire him to handle the charge to the end, and some take what they learned from him in that consultation and handle it themselves. Some attorneys offer free consults. My boss charges anywhere between $35-$50 for a consult. Hope that points you in the right direction.

Dude no sweat, illegal possession of alcohol is not that serious, since you are not 18 the car must be owned by your parents, beg them to tell the judge that it was their alcohol., and they left it in there by mistake. anyway if you plead guilty(dont do it) you will probably get a small fine 200 bucks and a years probation. You are a juvinle so it's not like it will be on your permenant record.

Depends on which state you live in. Who is the car registered to? was the container open (seal broken)? Parked where? why did they look in the trunk?

Why did you let them search your vehicle? You do not have to let any officer search your vehicle at anytime... regardless of if you have anything to hide or not.
You are still a juvenile and if you dont have any past record of similar incidents you should be fine. You can request to have your juvenile file sealed at the age of 18... unless you are adjudicated a delinquent... doesent sound like you are. I dont know as to a licence suspension.
