It's obvious that you have only a passing acquaintance with a dictionary or you'd know that atheism has nothing to do with superstition. In fact, it's just the opposite.

superstition: 1. A belief held in spite of evidence to the contrary. 2.a A belief, practice, or rite resulting from ignorance of the laws of nature or from faith in magic or chance. b A fearful or abject state of mind resulting from such ignorance or irrationality.

(The American Heritage Dictionary, Second College Edition)

1. Since there is no evidence for the existence of a god or gods, it is theists, not atheists, who are superstitious.

2.a Atheists do not base what they believe on ignorance of the laws or nature, etc. Theists do.

2.b Atheism is neither based on fear, nor is it effected by it. Theism, however, is all about fearing and trying to please an angry, vengeful god.

The superstition of religion has done enough damage over the past few thousand years. It is time that reason and sanity prevails over superstition and delusion.
I guess you have not heard about the Crusades when thousands of people were killed fighting over who had the better imaginary friend.

It is funny when a theist, at the pinnacle of belief in superstition, whines about atheists being superstitious. Could anything be funnier. Yes. It would be funnier if you were serious.

It is gaining ground because its easier on mans pride to believe they have done everything themselves rather than to admit they need help from an external sourse. We have become so filled with hubris that we truly think that we do not need help from a supernatural sourse. We have put our faith in our weapons and our dollar rather than in a God that is immaterial. What those who dont believe fail to understand is that one day the economy is going to fail, the dollar is going to become worthless, and our weapons will mean nothing. Its not the education, its our own pride, and as the saying goes "pride goes before the fall" and when we fall its going to be hard and its going to be devistating.
