i am not against religion in the slightest, but when you make a point in being a good person and all that stating that you are a christian or a muslim etc why is it then ok to act out against people who arent your religion of choice? isnt that hypocritcal? (i'm not speaking from experience or unresolved issues, just curious)

I don't think I am high and/or mighty. I am just a sinner in need of a Savior and I choose to believe that He is high and mighty.

This is an easy question to answer and I have answered something similar many times..so here goes.

Religion is the problem. People who rely on the practice of a religion rather than on a personal relationship with God HAVE to think that their choice is the only choice that could possibly be right. Unfortunately, they kick and scream about how unfair and sinful other people have become yet they themselves are not following the teachings of their leader...namely Jesus Christ. (providing of course that they are Christian religion oriented)

It is not only hypocritical but I also think these actions have caused the greatest damage to God's cause that anything could. People who might feel the beginning seeds of faith are turned away because of the nonsense and actions of these individuals.

I am not saying that religion itself is bad...but without first having a personal relationship with God...it is merely lip service and is probably as meaningless to God as it is to man.

Jesus berated those in his own time that practiced this. As I recall, he talked about how they act all high and mighty and judge others and pray incessantly in the public square (more or less)...but Jesus told them that God would not know them.

Seek God first. He will lead you to a place and method of worship if He thinks it is best for you.

Well, it all depends. You are assuming that all people are this way, which isn't true.
Your question is very broad and ambiguous. If we assume that some people that are part of a certain religion are this way it would be much more politically correct.
With that being said, it comes down to attitude. They may feel superior in some sense or they may feel so consumed by their religion that they "act out" against others to prove that their god is the most powerful. By acting out against others this proves how much they love their god. This can be irrational and inhumane in some cases, but the conceptional elements (according to the aggressor) are completely holy.

I don't consider myself high and mighty. I really don't. I know that I am a sinner. I know i have made some monumental mistakes. I have caused people pain and anger. I am simply human. Just like everyone else. My Lord, Jesus Christ preached love His whole life. And He wants us to love as well. He doesn't want us to hate anybody. Ever. And to say that all of us "religious people" do act out against people outside our belief system is a sweeping generalization. It's prejudicial. And honestly, it's painful. If you have run into someone that hateful and been hurt by them, I'm sorry. They're wrong. But don't let the hurtful actions of a few let you think that we are all bad.

Christians that act like that are not true Christians there confused i do have experience in this particular mater. as a Christan we are to show love and kindness and tell any one who will listen about gods love for them and the whole world. John 3:16 God so loved the world he sent his only son to die so that no man shale not parish but will accept his free gift of and will have eternal life in heaven without pain of sorrow.

Basically my religion teach me to be low profil.
Christianity teach us to love and help each other, and I belief all religions are the same. If you meet religion people who act high and mighty, thats not because the religion, but just him/herself.
Thats human.

Christianity is my belief and while it empowers me, the power is not mine. It doesn't put me ON a high horse, it takes me OFF.

I think it's a mistake for anyone to assume they have God in their pocket or to be so cruel as to abuse or belittle someone of another faith. There are a lot of folks who are going to have a LOT to answer for in this regard, when its all over. And I am one of them because I have been on a high horse before too.

Jesus' ONLY commandment is to love. Three fold. Love God, love others, love self. All the rest of Christian commandments fall into one of those three and need to be filtered through the lens of those. I have more than enough to think about with that and I don't even get that right half the time. So what place is it of mine to say I can tell someone else how to live? As far as spiritual matters, I am not a preacher. But I can make a mean pot of spaghetti, I have a few extra blankets, and I am a pretty good listener, my gas tank is usually full, and I know how to sing. I can provide that and I have done no harm and I haven't set the tone for any arguments. You can interpret what I do any number of ways but I will be showing you love because I was loved first by God...what God does with that seed is God's business. I need to be content with that.

If you are looking at me on my own, I have nothing for you.

If you are looking at me with God's help, I will love you and I may be able to SHOW you to God in the process. But we all know actions speak louder than words. So my best bet is to keep my mouth shut and love you. I don't think that is high and mighty.

Now, as far as preaching goes? There are lots of ways to do that. I don't buy into the way most preaching occurs, through words. I think deeds are a lot more powerful. I have faith and I have works. When I start flapping my gums, I usually get in trouble.

I love the way human beings act when we shut up and let God be God. I guess part of the frailty of my faith is that I feel I need to SAY something. And sometimes I do, sometimes I will be used of God to comfort or to teach. But more often than not, I am trying to let you in on how full of information I am, and how much I know that you don't, how right I am and how wrong you are, and trying to convince myself of how much God needs me to tell you some things that you need to hear. That's when I am the very most full of crap.

Everybody shut up and let God be God. He told me to say that. :)

People are brainwashed. Your raised to believe that if you are a good person God loves you, and if you are bad and pray really really hard he will forgive you. People are afraid of death so they have to find something to believe in to make them not be so afraid and end up thinking God has taken them under his wing so no matter how they act they will be forgiven. When will this madness stop!!!

and since you aren't speaking from experience or personal issues, where do you get the information that Christians "act out against people who arent your religion of choice"?
