If so, what would be the consequences of this action on the universe?

I'm looking for serious answers.

In theory, yes. God, should it be that he does exist, could destroy his own spirit or soul. I cannot imagine why, however, in the even that he chose to do this:

*Depending on whether or not believers in God are aware of his "death" or whatever it may be called, certain affects may rise such as war, suicide, depression, anger, and confusion. Christians and whoever else often live their lives for God; if he were gone, they may feel that they have nothing left to live for.

*Although I am not one of them, some people believe that without God, the world cannot have happiness. So, I guess that in their minds, life without the Lord would be equivalent to a permanent funeral.

*I am no longer a Christian, however, I was raised as one. I was once told by a member of my church that "God creates the children, they are born unto their parents, and when they die, they return to him." If this is so, it is possible that no children would be born without God. It is also fathomable that children would be born without life, love, soul, or whatever else I'm not thinking of.

*If it is, in fact, true that God is the creator of all things in the universe, maybe he is behind the development of crops, trees, etc. Therefore, food may be in short supply.

*I once read that everyone and everything "lives in God." If God no longer exists, we may not exist, either. When you think about it, for all we know, this may simply be an imaginary place in God's head. I personally do not believe that, however, I can understand why some might. Therefore, if God ceased to exist, we may not, either.

*As a child, I came to wonder; how do we know that we are not living in a tiny little snowglobe, and being watched in our daily lives by gigantic, humongous beings? Keep in mind, I was very young when I considered this. It is also a possibility, in theory, that we are God's "snowglobe." If so, we may simply have no one to watch us.

*I think that, if God did not exist, quite a few people would simply be distraught. There may no longer be joy or happiness. Then again, God is said to love his people, therefore, maybe he would not subject the world to this, or maybe only atheists, Satanists, and anyone else to denies his existence.

*razzthedestroyer once asked whether certain actions of God are actions of regret. If so, maybe distroying himself is another. And therefore, who knows--maybe an all around reform of human life will set in; returning to the times in which there was limited murder, no drugs, and little premarital sex. People may believe that, if they do what God wanted, he will return to them. In my opinion, they would, theoretically, be too late.

*Many believe that the miracles of life are results from careful prayer. Should it be that no one is there to answer prayers, maybe miracles would be few and far between, and when they did, probably only coincidences.

*As for the rest of the universe, I'm not completely sure... some believe that stars are the work of God; if so, then stars may also cease to exist. On the other hand, maybe they'd be less beautiful, or there would simply be less altogether.

*Also, it's possible that certain forces; gravity, weather, etc., would cease to occur; furthermore creating a rather boring, and barren landscape.

*The universe may get a bit "out of synch;" meaning; the earths rotation/revolution will occur at different speeds, be uneven in course, etc.

I like this question; it is quite possibly the first I've ever answered with full amounts of seriousness. You can have a star in celebration.

That's nonsensical (it makes no sense). God doesn't GET depressed or sad. He does regret things, but not to the point of suicide! So, the serious answer is NO. The Bible in Genesis 6 says that the Earth will exist forever because of God's will. That must mean that God will always EXIST! Sorry!

G-d is omnicient. You cant know more than an infinite amount of knowledge.

So is it possible that G-d know more than everything? No. Everything is complete in Everything.

An infinite amount of power can only create an infinite amount of power. Just think of it as a "power" plateau. You cant be stronger than the strongest.

This is why G-d cannot create a rock heavier than he himself can pick up. He cant make it MORE than infinitely heavy.

Can G-d destroy himself? No... (To destroy someting all powerful would take something greater than all powerful.)

But Im sure G-d, since he is omnicient, although perhaps being displeased at your unfaithful "test" question, has the perfect answer.

It's true that God can do anything that is consistant with His nature. But it is erroneous to suggest that He can do everything. God can't lie. (That's in Hebrews 6:18) He cannot be tempted(James 1:13) and he cannot cease to exist(psalms102:25-27).

The energy that is "God" can and does, break itself down, and build itself up, constantly; but there is no destruction, only God, and everything God creates, in this perfect psychic "dance" of All That Is.

God can't do anything contrary to his existence. He cannot make something greater than him. He cannot make something older than him. You cannot be greater than infinite.

infinite is always greater than any other number.

There is no such thing as infinite plus one. It would be the exact same number you began with..... infinite.

god don't regret anything so why is he going to destroy himself?
God is immortal(as the bible,coran,torah says), so he or it(i don't know!)can't die!simple!
ans if so the universe will die too....but I'm asking myself if it do it,where does the spirits go?

Nothing is greater than who He is. To destroy Himself is unthinkable,.

of course God could destroy himself if he so pleased...but the question is how exactly would he go about it?...that's a paradox that christians don't like to ponder...
