I am in desperate need to help my mother find insurance. Her cobra ended a few months ago, and she has a lot of health problems which makes her "not insurable" I know there has to be some program out there, she has been informed of medicare and they told her they would take over her assets (she has very little left to retire on, but can't afford them to take what is there) can anyone suggest anything or provide more detail for medicare? I really appreciate it!

Medicare does not take her assets, but she needs to be 65 or disabled to qualify.

You might be thinking of Medicaid, which is the state ran program for low income people. You have to qualify by having low income and low assets but they don't take the assets either. You can look up Medicaid for your state on the internet to see if she qualifies.

There are some guaranteed issue plans available so you should call an independent agent to see if something is available in your area.
