I don't remember how many shots we got, but they were for some of the exotic stuff like yellow fever, malaria...I'm guessing it's been 34 years. One was for a strain of meningitis. They were a bit freaky about that at Ft. Ord since some guys had died from an outbreak. Thing was that the shot was for a different strain than what killed the guys.

The air guns were different. We got shots in stereo. They could not have warned us more to not move. Not sure what the air pressure was but they said it could make a nasty tear if you moved.

DO THEY STILL USE THE AIRGUNS???

Because the recruits are in very close quaters and no one knows what they have been in contact with before joining the service so they give a wide verity of vaccines to cover any possible cross contimination of the recruits.

It's easier to give them during basic training then waiting until one gets shipped out to do it. It's done automatically in all facets of the military so even if a person is doing their service in germany they won't need to stop and get shots.

To protect you from disease. Soldiers also go over seas often and need other vaccines on top of the normal ones most civilians get.
