it's more appropriate to give nice gifts all the time to the bus driver, and make sure it's not just from your child by signing your name on the card also. you can always be nicely dressed and waiting with your child every day for the bus to make idle chitchat with the driver when he shows up. if he still doesn't take the hint, offer him "summer work" painting your house. i don't think i'd give him your number though.

I would look into his background VERY carefully before giving out your phone number. Just being a bus driver doesn't vouch for his character - I know you've heard the stories about school district employees turning out to have criminal records.

yes.Bus drivers should not have your phone number. If there's a problem with your child on the bus,no one at home,or any problem the drivers should return to the school and let the school principal be in charge of what needs to be done.

My sons teacher this past school year was a man, quite cute if I may add. We had a few moms "go after him" during the year. Personally, I would never, it is a care provided of your child. There are plenty other"fish in the sea"

If you like this guy, I would exchange phone numbers. That way you two can arrange to meet for a coffee and go from there. Good luck to you. My mother exchanged phone numbers with my father and I am glad she did.

Who cares, society has some really silly rules anyway.
...but first you should find out his relationship status, he may have a boyfriend. LOL
...and let your kid know as well, then they're at least in the loop.
You never know, may be the love of your life...or a psychopath who has somehow passed his background check, life's full of surprises.
Good luck.

We don't have bus service where I live so I can't completely relate, however.......it does seem a little wrong. Maybe you could become friends with him and see where it goes instead.

IMO yes... because I keep the kids away from my social/love life until I'm positive this person will be around long-term.
