Recognize you have a problem, seek a support system with other people who have recovered or are far into recovery, counseling, and admitting you can never again take part in the behavior that is addictive (such as drinking or doing drugs). You need to get away from all the people who were willing to participate in this with you and find a new group of friends who don't partake in anything that would trigger your addiction. Main thing is to find a really great support system with lots of healthy people!

The most important thing in beating an addiction is truly wanting to do so. If you aren't completely ready to kick whatever the addiction is, you won't be able to.

If the addiction involves being physically addicted to something than you will need to detox from it. Usually if it is a chemical addiction it is smarter to do this under medical supervision.

After the physical detox...the real work begins. You need to find some sort of support. Once you have those things in place you are on your way.

First u have to dig deep inside and relize why u use. then u have to find the dispine and determination to stop. Get a suport group. Check into a rehab program, do what ever u need to, its not easy you dont just wake up one day and u r no longer addicted. I was clean for 9 years and went back to the same thing. been clean now only one year, and it has been the hardest year of my life. good luck!!

What I did was to completely remove myself from my triggers. That is my crackhead friends and what not. Find our what makes you want to do drugs and work on solving the trigger and your addiction will get better.

Never pick it up in the first place. Because once you're "hooked", it becomes YOU against Yourself. And those are the HARDEST battles of all- to fight. Good luck.
