This was a call on Washington Journal from a distraught man who was from Iraq who was displeased with the consequences of the present even as compared to the past regime. It seemed sad especially considering the growing count of the enemy.

Ask the entire Christian Population of Iraq. Almost a million have fled the American occupation. The Pope tried to talk to Bush about it but apparently he couldn't follow the conversation.

To be honest, it really depends on who you talk to. I have two major areas I patrol in Baghdad. The people in both are very grateful to the Coalition Forces and it's even been a topic during Friday prayers. The Sunnis are tired of Al Qaida and the Militia.

The Sunnis do miss the days of Saddam because they were well taken care of for the most part. The Shiites are glad he's gone but are deeply concerned over the security situation. They will also admit that the security situation is not because of the Coalition Forces but because of Iran and Al Qaida.

Typically, the people who want us out are the Sadrists. We are getting in the way of the Shiites retribution on the Sunnis. If we leave, the Shiites will decimate the Sunnis who will depend on Al Qaida to protect them further strengthening the terrorists stance in the Sunni world.

Polls show that a large majority of Iraqis want the US to withdraw from Iraq.

Also check out the opinion of the Iraq Freedom Congress:

You really believed he was from Iraq & a Saddam supporter that could call the Washington Journal?????
Get real , if he supported Saddam he supported a mass murderer who killed more than 500,000 people - men, women, & children. Should we care what a monster like that thinks? The overthrown are never happy when a new goverment takes over & the US supports the new Democratic goverment.
It is sad you would believe an anononymous caller over your own goverment.

When I was over there a few Iraqis did say that but it was the case that we had made Iraq worse. It the fact the average civilian doesn't know who to trust even amongst themselves.
Plus did you S.H. went to jump school at fort benning. That right he was Airborne qualified.

I am with every single word that "usarmorsoldier" said she's right, I am an Iraqi and during Saddam's time. he was telling us that Americans are worse than we imagine but when you came here( in Iraq) i\we found the opposite.
i really would like to thank the troops, i always thank them, the troops are the only wish i have it now, so please don't let me down.... i really don't wanna be disappointed any more.
look at my country now and what's happening, all of us know the reason, but you know what? we can't say anything, we can't express our feelings towards the troops, they kill every one who at least say hello to the troops. we need freedom more than any thing else now, we had enough of the Sadderists, of Persian religious who came from Iran, they want us to be like Iran, but we are human and we like to live the way we like, we are Iraqis, we are not Persians.
for me i pray for the troops every day, i always write massages for them, thanking their humanity...

before the superpower showed up, women had rights, like to be teachers, doctors and the such. under occupation by the imperialists these rights have evaporated. saddam kept the water flowing, the power on, he brutally supressed anti Christian anything. heck his #2 tariq aziz was a Christian. car bombings, suicide attacks, bridges blowing up, this did not happen until the imperialists showed up. perhaps people in the west see some subtle propaganda and think all is fine, reality says no one wants occupation, not you in your country, not Irakis in Irak. the imperialist occupation has made life worse. ask Iraki Christians and they are fleeing since the imperialists invaded, they were protected under saddam and lived in peace as they had for 1700 years.

I would point out where I live, I get uncensored raw Irak footage daily on tv from journalists that are not " in bed " with the occupiers. we got to see smuggled video from faluja when the occupiers sealed it up not even allowing red cross in. we got to see the burnt bodies ect. i also have a satelight and can see American news, what you get, and what I get are 2 different wars. think about that.

I'm sure a fair amount of them want us there but I am also sure a significant amount does not and that's really all you need to feed an insurgency.
When the British invaded the colonies during the revolution, there were many Americans who were loyal to England and wanted to see George Washington strung up, however, there were enough rebels where it didn't matter how many people were loyal to the King. That's the same scenario we face in iraq.

Every Iraqi I met was happy we were there, and they all said they were better off now than under Sadaam.

There is only 3-4 areas of the country that are bad. The rest of the country is doing quite well.
