My intentions are mostly good, but whenever I do make a mistake, I admit to it and try again. However, my being an Atheist shouldn't be a reason for that.

NO. the servants of God are fools, according to the scriptures, they are fools to world. The things of God are foolish to the people of the world.
And MORE often than not, the servants of God are MORE misunderstood than any athiest.
