I went to collge in Utah and met this very sweet girl. She told me she was mormon. i asked her if i could visit her church (as in just going inside, after all the temples are very beautiful) she said i was not able to. well she called me last night to tell me she was getting married and that she would have loved for me to stand next to her , but that i could not because i was not mormon. I do not understand this. I mean its not like i am going there for service, just a wedding. anybody know why?

Some religions believe that those who do not believe what they do are heathens, and therefore do not want the "heathens" infesting their holy grounds.

But a real Christian church practices what Jesus did: and that is accepting EVERYBODY.

That doesn't mean we tolerate things that we believe are wrong: it just means that we're not going to turn you away because of it.

At least, that's how its supposed to work. Too bad the world ain't perfect.

AWW! Sad nonmormon....

Lol, I'm not mormon either so don't sweat it. It's because she is being married(or sealed) in the temple. In order to be in the temple you MUST be mormon, you MUST be 18 and you MUST have a recommend which is basically a slip saying "I give so and so permission to go into the temple"

Don't take it personally, they do this to preserve the sanctity of the temple.

Just so you know, pictures aren't allowed to be taken inside a temple, even after it is no longer in service or owned by the LDS church.

Go to kirtland OH and try to take pictures of the temple, you will be kicked out and your camera will be confiscated even though it is not owned by the LDS church or an active temple.

P.S. If you go to Kirtland, you CAN enter that temple because it is inactive, and all temples are the same on the inside(or so I was told) and so then you'll know what it's like.

You can attend normal worship services every Sunday. It is the temple where you cannot enter. I am LDS and I cannot go into the temple yet. This is only because I have not lived my life in a Christ-like manner long enough yet to be allowed. What happens in our temples is not secret but sacred. We would love for everyone to be worthy to attend. The rules are not meant to keep people out, but to allow those who live as we have been told to live a sacred place to worship.

To learn more and find a chapel near you where you can go anytime you please, check out the official web site below.

As for what was said about the Kirtland Temple, that is not true. I personally have been there and taken photos inside that building. It is no longer owned by the Church. Heck, at one time, that building was used as a barn after it was no longer used as a temple. And NO, not all temples are the same inside. There are many photos on the following web page of temples and their interior. Kirtland is VERY different.

Only LDS Church members, in good standing, with a current temple recommend are allowed inside the temples. The only exception is before a new temple is dedicated. At that time anyone can tour inside the temple.

It is part of the way Mormons do things. When a family member who is Mormon married, I could not go to the wedding in the Temple either (because I am not Mormon). However, my family member was having a reception I could have been invited to.

Going to the Temple is for Mormons only.

However, everyone is welcome at my Messianic synagogue, a place for Jewish people and Gentiles who believe in Yeshua (Jesus) -- and we don't take up an offering. People are welcome for free at high holidays and every other time. http://www.cbmhouston.org

We just built a new synagogue which we will be moving into soon.

You are always mroe than welcome to come to any chapel and attend our Sunday services. But the temple teaches things that non-members would not understand. I know cause those that are told what goes on don't understand and get all bent out of shape abouat it.

Besides, attendants at a temple wedding don't stand next to the bride and groom. There are two witnesses, both males, and they sit to the side.

There are pictures on line and in books of wha the temples look like on he inside. And if you ever find one that is getting ready to open, they have an open house hat anyone can attend where youc an walk tru the temple and see wat it looks like.
