Get on your computer and make a large print flyer. Go to somewhere and make a couple hundred copies. Get a couple of neighborhood kids to help you, I paid some kids $5.00 to help post and pass them out. DO it right away. Flood the area with flyers. Go to the pound in person, never take their word that the dog is not there. Look yourself. Post them on poles, trees and hand deliver them to every home possible. Knock on doors. Ask the kids riding bikes around the area to help find him. Offer those kids a reward. Good luck

It's really important that you work very quickly, especially if she didn't have a collar when she got lost. Look up the number/address of every animal control department and pound in your area. If I were you, I'd call all the counties that were even remotely possible. They'll help you file a report. If you have a photo of your dog, make color copies and give them to the employees there. Also, do the same thing with every vet's office in the area. Most have a bulletin board you can post a "LOST" flyer on. Try the same thing with any ASPCA or animal rescues around your area. If they happen to rescue your dog from the pound, you want them to recognize her. Make flyers with a photo and description on them saying your dog is lost. Post them all over the area where your dog got lost. Try to talk to any people you meet and tell them about your dog, and that she's lost. Finally, search online for lost and found animal databases, and sign up to list your dog as lost. Sometimes people find dogs and go looking for the dog's owner online on these sites.
I really hope you find your dog. When you find her, have her microchipped so she'll always come home to you.

Notify your veterinarian, as well as local vets near you.
Call the police or animal control officer and put in a description of your dog, so that if she is picked up as a stray, they will have your name and information on file.
If you have the opportunity, GO TO THE SHELTERS and ask if you can look yourself - sometimes the folks at the desks are too busy to have accurate information on all the dogs they have.
If she is purebred, contact the nearest purebred rescue group for her breed (http://www.petfinder.com - click "Shelter and Rescue Groups" in the upper right) to let them know that she is missing.
Post flyers in the neighborhood, and post an ad in the paper. If you offer a reward, MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET YOUR DOG BEFORE you hand over any money to ANYONE, and make sure that it is YOUR dog. There are scam artists out there who will try to rip you off.
When you get your dog back, immediately get a collar and tags so that if she gets out again, she has a better chance of getting home safe and sound.

1) Knock on doors and talk to people in the neighborhood.
Most people walk the streets around their home and call their pet. People who knock on their neighbor's doors and ask if anyone has seen their pet instead of just calling are more likely to find it.
2) Hand out fliers with your pet's picture on them and your phone number.
Fliers need only have a clear photo of the animal and a telephone number that someone will answer or that is hooked to an answering machine.
3) Go to all the local shelters and the government agencies charged with picking up stray and lost animals and look for yourself, at least every other day.
Calling the animal control department or shelter on the phone is not very effective. Your pet may not yet be listed in the records at the front desk, and the way you describe your pet may not be the way a shelter describes your dog. Any animal may become dirty, matted and neglected looking very quickly, and You must visit the shelter, even if your pet was wearing tags when it was lost.
You will need to go to the shelters at least every other day. Few shelters can keep animals for more than 72 hours. Sometimes it takes more than a few days for a pet to be picked up and brought to a shelter.
It's important to visit all the shelters within 20 miles of where your pet was lost. In many areas stray animals are picked up by a government agency which holds them for a period and then turns them over to a shelter. If someone took your pet in for a few days hoping you would knock on their door and ask about it, they might later drop your pet off at the shelter that's most convenient for them, rather the one that's closest.
Combining these three things is most effective. Knocking on doors and handing out copies of your flier to your neighbors and to the staff at all the local shelters is the most effective way of looking for your lost pet.

you should make posters and post it around your area because the dog would't wonder off any farther than that. You shoud also go to some kind of lost pet online website and post it there too. Also, contact the pound in your area if they might have picked up your dog or someone could have found the dog and dropped it off to the pound.

You got a lot of good advice.
Make sure she is always under control On A Leash. Little black dogs are often hit by cars. And get a collar on her.
With her license and rabies tag your name and number. If someone finds her they will call YOU.

Try getting in the car and looking for her or go walking and looking for her. Put up posters......she may come back home on her own. How old is she? Is she a pup? Hopefully she is not in heat and went to look for a boy doggie. Good luck......Hope you find her. You may want to contact any humane societies or animal control officer in your area.
