Yes, we are to praise and Glorify God. Many people use the word Bless in different ways, as in a Thanks giving at meal time or say God bless you when someone sneezes. They mean they are asking God for his attention and help to a situation. There was a wives tale that if a person sneezes, their heart will stop. So they say God Bless you as a nice way of asking God to protect you so that doesn't happen.
You are correct. The English language can be used in different ways. Like saying , You reap what you sew. Well the word sew makes you think of a needle and thread. But how do you sew a deed with a needle and thread. Over the years people have used the word Bless as like saying God will give his good grace and care over you. God bless you.
How do you board a plane. What do you do, hit it with a board. How about it is time to deplane. How do deplane a plane. This is a good question, thanks for bringing it up. Make you think doesn't it. Wish I could give ten points to you for it. God Bless You and Keep you. May his eyes shine upon you and give you rest.

No, because a piece of land cannot bless God, only God can bless something...he can bless the land, the home, the person, the food, the crops, the water, the technology....

God blesses America every day.
If you're going to switch it around, maybe it should be,
"Americans, honor God."

It scares me to think where America would be if we did not ask fior His blessings. And we should bless God with our daily walk, not just with words.
