I'm wanting to see if there is one you can read straight thru, like a chapter book I guess, not one that has the actual wording, then translated in easier to read terms. Know of any?

Jesus: A Novel
Walter Wangerin Jr.
Explore the life of Jesus from the perspective of those who knew him most intimately. Paul, A Novel
Walter Wangerin Jr.

With vivid imagination and scholarly depth, award-winning author Walter Wangerin Jr. weaves together the history of the early church with the life story of its greatest apostle - Paul. A fierce prosecutor of Christians before his conversion, Paul never lost his fiery dedication, boldness, and strong personality. After his shocking encounter with God on the road to Damascus, he applied his formidable strengths to spreading the gospel. Wangerin deftly reveals Paul's character through each stage of his life, and enables us to see Paul's character through each stage of his life, and enables us to see Paul the person, living and complex, viewed through the eyes of his contemporaries. Paul's rich interaction and brilliant dialogue with friends and foes, leaders and slaves, Jews and Greeks, creates a swift and intense historical drama about the man who spread the seed of the Gospel to the ends of the known world.

The Living Bible is very easy to understand and written in paragraph form. I wouldn't use it as my only Bible though. Read it and The King James Or The New King James At the same time. It will help you to learn to read The King James while making it easy to understand for now. You could also get an Amplified Bible. It shows a number of different translations side by side. That may be your best bet .God bless!!

There is only one Holy Bible. The Christian Bible.
If you want a version that is easy to understand, try the newer versions, like the Amplified Bible (1965), the Contemporaty English Version (1995), and the God's Word Translation (1995).
These are good for reading purposes.

You have some pretty good answers, ignore Jackal, he is just being a momentary jerk.
Not being quite sure where you are here is one site.

The thing is all about what you are trying to find.
If you want a bible to teach kids then this kind of stuff would be it.
If you just want the gist of things then almost any , as one said "Cliff Notes," are what you are seeking.
If you want to actually know what it is about then you need to study diplomatics(document sciences) and archaeology.

If you look up bible gateway on the internet you actually get to look at a lot of different versions, you might find something easy there.
The Brick testament is very easy but not religion friendly. It is exact about what the Bible says but not a bit flattering. It is like a fat woman in tight white shorts.

Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are written pretty basically. They are also the same time line of events written by different people so there is overlap of details.
If you are just trying to *understand* what you are reading you can switch to an easier bible to understand - such as the Living Bible. It's the same stories without all the "thous and thy's" and replaced with modern language.
Not to be condescending, you may also try a bible aimed at teenagers.

1. New King James version (I like the Macarthur Study Bible)
2. New International Version
3. New American Standard Bible
These are easy to understand, and the bible is already in chapter's. The Study Bible has titles on each chapter, and explains verses at the botom of each page.

Try the children's Bibles (seriously.) I found one today that had the actual KJV wording, but had an easy to understand explanation on the next page. And it was filled with pictures.

There are hundreds (and probably thousands) of different versions; my favorite is The Bible - an American Translation, from the University of Chicago Press, 1930. Browse the bookstores (used books, especially) and see what you can find. I find that diacritical marks on names (intended to guide pronunciation) are a particular irritant. Just remember that it is a work of fiction.
