I don't know about your state but here it would sound like a "personnel" matter and there are real sticky laws about what you can tell one employee about another.
If you are giving notice and are on good terms with your boss, he should keep it under his hat. But don't wait longer than a day to tell your coworker. The boss may have to make arrangements for your coworkers to take over your duties.

You do not seem to be afraid to tell your boss you are quitting your job. What is the difference who tells your co-workers you are quitting, you will probably never see any of them again anyway. It so happens that when you leave a place of employment it is rare that you keep any of the people you have worked with as friends. You will be out of their life and you will go forward to a new job AND NEW FRIENDS. Good luck.

Just tell your boss that you are quitting and you don't want any other coworkers finding out just yet. That you want to be the one to bring it up to them. And no it isn't rude to ask your boss to keep secret about it.

Just say, "Do you mind if I tell everyone that I'm leaving first? I'd prefer if they hear it from me". Does it really matter if your boss gets offended? You're leaving anyway.

Tell your boss politely, I would appreciate it if I can tell my colleagues myself about my decision. It would be better coming from me. Don't worry about offending your soon to be ex boss. What is she going to do, fire you? Also, I don't see anything offensive from my suggestion.

I tink it would be in rather poor taste to ask the boss to keep quite about it.
Just break it to him and go directly and tell the rest! Problem solved!
