You're a genius! You knew he was safe, he wasn't getting into anything he shouldn't....I will never allow my kids feet to touch the floor again. Screw 'em if they don't like it, or think it's rude.

I don't think is rude, but I would be very nervous just praying that he doesn't hit his head with anything . A few years back when my first son was about 2 years old(now 16 years old) I had him on my shoulders I am 5' 2" and add up him on my shoulders, I was walking and there was something hanging from the ceiling and I didn't see it, well...he bumped his head with that thing and made a little cut, but since it was on a very fragile spot it bleed a lot but there was no need for stitches or anything like that. Since then I was very nervous so I get for some reason very nervous if someone has his kids on the shoulders.

What on earth could possibly be rude about it? Rude would be if your 4 year old was running around the store screaming his head off, or if he was crying the whole time and you kept on shopping. Anyone who thinks it's rude or weird OBVIOUSLY doesn't have small children. I, personally am impressed with your back and shoulder strength. An hour is a long time to walk around with a kid on your shoulders. :-)

Absolutely not rude - he's happy, quiet, and under control - what more could you ask for while out shopping with a child!? It's much more polite than allowing him to play with merchandise or start making a fuss in the shop. There is always the chance that the people looking at you were enjoying the sight of a happy young child spending time with his mum! :-)

I'm not sure I would even think twice about it if I saw that. Gotta give you props for multi-tasking. Did you have a cart too? If you had an unhappy child screaming because they were bored or whatever you'd really have them staring at you. You have to do what works best for you and not worry about what anyone else thinks. Sounds like you have a child that is just happy to hang out with you :)

Why would it possibly be rude? You're not bothering anyone. My daughter loves to ride like that, and we frequently shop that way. It keeps her happy and quiet, which is a lot more polite than having a screaming toddler in the store.

Your able to shop.
Your kid is happy, safe, and occupied in a non troublesome and quiet manner.
Your getting an awesome workout.
Let them stare, maybe some moms will get the idea and use it. Maybe some people wont like it, but they woulndt like it even more if the kids was running around, touching things, or bieng noisy and crying. Those people are the kind who get mad at children for bieng children, and are best left ignored.

my daughter use to ride on my shoulders until one day in kmart she decided to reach for the candy while I was reaching for my wallet. Yeah she hit the floor and shoulder riding was over. Thankfully she wasnt injured.
I dont think its weird, they arent bugging other shoppers and you know where they are, you get good exercise, and they cant steal anything. Let him ride as long as he wants and you can carry him. It will build a memory he wont forget. Just dont let him fall when you reach for your wallet....

I myself dont do it but when my hubby comes shopping with us he will put my son on his shoulders. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. It's a lot of fun for the child and also you won't lose him ... lol
Let people stare who cares....LOL.
Kids grow up so fast in a few yrs you wont be able to do that. Just enjoy them while they are little

Would they prefer the child screaming and crying? People complain at everything. I don't see how it is rude or bothering anyone. It's not like your asking them to put the child on their shoulders. If it works, do it...

Nope, not rude at all. He was happy, you were happy, there were no incidences. I can't imagine thinking that it's a rude thing to keep a child content while shopping. :)
