Allah actually just means God. Allah is singular of Elohim. Allah, El, Elyh are all three singular of Elohim. And all are in the bible, & Allah is least written in the Old Testament. Alla's in the book of Daniel more.
The Allah of the Koran isn't the same Allah as the Yahweh Elohim, the El Elyon of the Holy Bible. The Koran has a different author & a different message than the Holy Bible.

Christians and Jews worship the God of the Old Testament (the Hebrew Bible).
Muslims worship a different god. They're completely different.

Well, Christians may not think so, but we Muslims consider ourselves to be worshipping the same God as the Christians and Jews and monotheists in general.
Our Prophet was a descendant of Ishmael, and thus, Abraham. Tell your mother that the Bible promised Ishmael he would have a "great nation" and suggest to her that the Muslims may be the culmination of this promise.

Your mother is correct, allah is not the God of the Bible.
The Quran says that allah does not beget.
The Bible says that God's only begotten son is Jesus. John 3:16
So they are not the same.

No. Christians have 3 gods. father, holy spirit and jesus (trinity) which by the way was introduced by First Council of Nicaea. You can pray to holy spirit too since it is the same god. No need to ask for jesus. Next time if something troubling you, just ask yourself "What would holy spirit do?".
And, jewish do not pray to jesus or believe the trinity which make them completely different from christians.

Not in *my* book (the Bible), he's not!
I've likened al-lah to the moon god before, and once got reported for it; but here are some web sites, if you can read them and look at them before my answer is reported and removed: http://www.biblebelievers.org/au/, http://www.yeshua.co.uk, http://www.faithdefenders.com/answers.html, http://www.pointofview.net/ar_islam.htm, etc.
If one just types in: "allah moon god" in the block for "Search the Web", one shall be informed that there are 935,000 references!

In John 17:23 THE LORD JESUS CHRIST prayed for the UNITY OF THE FAITH and St Paul in Eph 4:13 also preached the UNITY OF THE FAITH. Moreover, THE LORD GOD holds in his hand (Rev 1:20) the Seven Churches, in the image of a Menorah; and this symbolizes the UNITY OF THE FAITH. Likewise, in a vision when Mohammad was brought to heaven by Archangel Gabriel, he was in a heavenly assembly with THE LORD GOD and THE LORD JESUS CHRIST WHOM he saw at the right hand of GOD. Similarly, Mohammad prophesied in the Book of Hadith, the 2nd Book of Islam, that THE LORD JESUS CHRIST will come again and will teach the world Islam which means obedience to GOD. But the truth is that only the Prophets/ Saints-the chosen ones of GOD and their disciples -the chosen ones among natural men understand this UNITY OF THE FAITH because the HOLY SPIRIT is amidst them as that spirit is without limits and boundless, without walls of division, without walls of hostility and one in eternity with ONE GOD; ONE SPIRIT; ONE LORD; ONE BAPTISM; ONE FAITH AND ONE BODY. On one hand, always remember that as Christians, the Muslims nor the buddhist are our enemies but satan and his demons who deceive the whole world, divide us and thus, conquer us are our enemies; even so in the spiritual sense are our real enemies. But the HOLY SPIRIT among the chosen ones, that serpent has no power over them. It is as the angel in one of my dreams in a chronicle of 27 year dream-messages told me as he pointed his finger to a snake saying to me this serpent cannot harm you. If you understand in the spirit this Unity of the Faith and has an inkling about it, it is because you are a chosen one among natural men/women. But others, the natural men, seeing they cannot see and hearing they cannot hear. Thus, these mysteries of the kingdom are only revealed to the chosen of GOD and the chosen ones among natural men. Likewise, in aramaic, they call their GOD, ALLAHA. THANKS GOD; FEAR GOD; PRAISE GOD; GLORIFY GOD; HONOR GOD; LOVE GOD AND WORSHIP GOD.
