Ok. So. Fundementalist christians don't believe that the earth is several billion years old. They say carbon dating, and fossils, etc are all lies. Fair enough.
But you know distant galaxies and stuff? That are billions of light years away, we're talking billions here like.
WHen Gos said let there be light, and when he created the starts and stuff, why did he wait 10 billion years between the stars and earth?
PAY ATTENTION HERE: Even if you say that we don't know what a day was back then, as in, how long it was, if the earth is only 6000 years old or whatever, and the stars are billions of years old, isn't there a disparity between the length of days then????

Not all Christians who are orthodox and believe in inspired scripture hold a view of a literal six day creation. Many see it as poetic language, for example: "On the seventh day God rested". An omnipotent being does not require rest, it is another way of saying, "he finished." The lesson behind him finishing in "six days" was for mortal humans to recognize and practice a sabbath day of rest--we are not omnipotent. So there is no contradiction in my mind about the universe being several billions of year old and the bible account of creation. It probably does not answer all your questions, but it's just a thought.

Ok, I didn't really understand but I will answer as best as I can.
I do not believe the earth is billions of years old, or even millions, maybe A million at max.
And I am not someone who says carbon dating is a lie. I just believe that they have the wrong formula for finding out how old stuff is. Carbon dating is very new, and still can be improved.
I do not believe that there was a disparity between the length of days. Time is constant, simple as that.
God created the heavens and the earth at the same time. Just because the stars are billions of lightyears away does not mean they are billions of lightyears older than the earth.

Yes, carbon dating is faulting, that's why it's changing all the time. But just because it would take man kind billions of years to get somewhere in the galaxy doesn't mean the things in the galaxy weren't made within the 7 days that God created earth and the solar system. Just because I make a muffin and shoot it off in a rocket ship to land in russia and make another muffin and leave it at my feet and it would take an ant a billion years to travel to russia, doesn't change the fact that both muffins were made the same day..
and by the way.. no one TRULY knows, with a scientic certainty just how old the earth and the galaxy is..

They are so confused they think the stars are only 6000 years old too. Remember the heavens "Stars" and the earth were created at the same time. Even though all the stars are different ages.
Don't ever ask science to a religious person. Their answer is always, because God did it.
"Just because the stars are billions of lightyears away does not mean they are billions of lightyears older than the earth." LOL There is just too many things I could say.
Ok, There seems to be many who are confused by this. If a star that is billions of light years away, was not billions of years old, then its light would not have reached Earth and we would not be able to see it! That is how we know it is billions of years old. Understand?

There is the time dilation effect of Einstein.
We don't know how far it goes or how to factor it, but the facts remain that if you put an atomic clock in high speed orbit it will drift out of sync with the one on Earth. That's time dilation
It affects Carbon dating as well.
Now how we we know the Sun and Earth are travelling today at the same speed as when they were formed, which YOU say is 5 billion years ago.
If things are slowing, as Einstein (General Relativity) and Big Bang predicts then time speeds up for us as we slow in space.
Since everything we preceive is based on a reference point we can't pin down (it's called common relativity) we don't truly know much about anything. We make educated guesses based upon our knowledge at (if you'll excuse the expression) a given point in time.
You're in space and everything is moving and so are you, except you can't be truely sure what direction you are truly heading because eveyrhting is moving and there is NO fixed point of reference.
As thing slow time dilation occurs.
So, how can you accurately DATE something if the potential for time dilation exists, unless, of course, you believe we are in steady state.
Steady state has been pushed aside as a theory.
Big Bang leaves open Big Chrunch, which means one day the universe will contract.
That means we are ALREADY in that process. THAT MEANS things are slowing and will FALL back to the point of origin or be drawn back to the point of origin.
We are not moving in a straight line but in curved space in an ellipse, we suppose and that elipse will ONE DAY have a high point, after which we go back to the point of origin.
That also means we speed up again, until we reach close to the speed of light and shrink in size and the singularity is restored.

He didn't wait. The words were spoken and they were there. The earth is about 6000 years old but who said the stars are older than the earth? God said exactly- Gen 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
8 And God called the firmament Heaven.
day 2 of creation. The days were literal 24 hour days. I think you may be a little confused

So far nobody has been able to test the age of the stars and the way scientist do that is by the light and how it gets to earth.. God could easily have created those all those years ago... Ps I also don't believe in the expanding universe. (and yes will use science when I need it, but I check out all the side effects of the drugs they prescribe to me and determine whether or not its a good idea.

A whole slue of history was lost.. In fact they found by one of the sphinx.. sorry do not remember which one.. artifacts that go back farther then others and their for our history is off by a few thousand years..
This was a reference about time even from the Christian stand point.. Our time is not Gods time.. I have found some people have a hard time with this..
2 Peter 3:8-10 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness..

Well now you make a good argument soldier. But are you sure the galaxies are Billions of years old. I'm not going to ask you to prove it because I know you can't. By the way your yahoo Avatar sucks big time. But I'm giving you a high D+ for originality just the same. With a big kiss.

Look at your keyboard.
Lets explain it without a creator ok?
How did it get there? Well billions and billions of years ago there was a single celled plastic molecule (wait! after revisions it is now multi celled) And then it began to mutate. Well then how could it have a creator because the number pad is separated from the arrow keys. This must of took 5 more billion years so it would be silly to think it had a creator. Can you believe that people would even think that the keyboard was created? Sheesh.
