did ford make a 1978 ltd with a 390 motor?

Hi miss The answer to your question is this way back in the 1960's Most fords had two choices for their engines the 352 cu.inchV8 and the 390 cu.inch V8,they were used on the Ford Galaxie 500 cars,Today though one of these engines has either been discountinued or used inmotor homes out on our highways,Since then Ford has downsized their engines to either the 302 V8 or the 351V8 both are nice motors and Ford motor company still makes them today,even in race cars too.

Nope, no 390. The only engines available in 1978 LTD's were a 302, two different 351's, a 400 and two different 460's.

no..IN 78..THEY HAD SMALL BLOCK 400M..IT PARTLY 351W and 351Cleveland. this small block is lighter.and produce more HP and torque..torque is what you need..if dirt track.
390 i believe stop in 69, then come 429.460 is related to that block..these motor are more plentiful..then 390 or 400m or 351cleveland.
if you can legally go that way..great.
390 is just like the 427 and 428 in lots of ways.
but internally difrerent..heads are different..by the cubes..
400m..is great motor..big cubes..get bigger valves..it light weight..compared to big blocks.

nope, the last FE big block in ford cars was installed in 1970. after that it was the lima big blocks(the 429/460). ford trucks got the FE until 1976.

My aunt had one years ago and I was told it had a 390 in it, but I'm not sure. I know it was pretty fast and it LOVED gas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
