Hi All. I have a website I would like your thoughts on.

Please visit http://keepteenssafe.tripod.com and give me your thoughts.

I'm looking for answers from parents who can value and appreciate the site and give honest feedback. Thank you!

FYI - yes, on the Q & A page it states we will submit background info and references.

Keep in mind, not all parents are myspace savvy or hip to the lingo kids speak. It's not as easy as you think to play another kid their age and manuever around all the different websites quickly.

Again, it's a service geered more to parents who aren't tech savvy or those who aren't familiar with how to move around sites like myspace.

Thanks for the comments so far. So far, I have been able to make some changes based on your responses. Keep them coming!

You want parents to give you personal info about their children. Are you crazy? How is a parent supposed to know that you're legit? How do we know that you're not a predator disguising yourselves as concerned parents? What kind of guarantees can you give that you are legit? Do you have objections to giving your personal info to parents so that background checks can be run on you and your husband? Why should parents trust complete strangers to do something that we could do ourselves and for free? I can appreciate the idea behind your website but there is no way that I or my husband would ever give out any personal info about us or our children.

I am not a parent of a teen, but I am a youth worker working with teens, and I'm not too sure that I am keen on this idea. I realise that there are a lot of predators out there, but what we need to do is make teen aware of the safety risks and teach them to make good decisions rather than spying on them and entrapping them into disclosing information about themselves. Teens should have computers in an area of the house that is used by the entire family rather than in their rooms. This way they can be monitored without the parents spying on them. This service that is being offered is teaching the young person that they are not worthy of trust from their parents and will drive a wedge between the young person and their parents. I believe that if communication between the young person and the parents is strong, they will know if their child is depressed of suicidal as they will feel comfortable discussing the issue and will be able to teach their children smart decision making skills and they will be aware of the risks out there, which might I add, are everywhere not just on the Internet. Lets teach our parents and young people to communicate and strengthen their relationships instead of adding another "big brother" to the mix to decrease the young peoples feelings of worth and ability to be trusted.

I don't know what to tell parents. It's not JUST the fact our kids are being exposed to these things, It's if they are responsible enough. "hoping parents aren't enough the ones that are active and close are"

This means, parents should be responsible to what their child goes through, so if your a parent really have a sit and chat about them for once. (I'm meaning realllly have a conversation tell them what you think and hope. Don't start out with a simple question 'How is school" more with "I want to talk to you" it gets thier attention more)

They might not tell you everything but its worth hearing.
talking about your life helps them understand you better. A Mutual relationship is good when your wanting to keep your kid safe. then they won't jsut think "oh your being unfair."
