first try chamomile tea bags. Place over the affected eye for ten minutes. Do this every few hours.
Second, try contact solution. It really works!

it wont help but it will make his eyes at ease do not look at any screen or even read a book it will hurt his eyes really baddly, and keep him in a seprate room so it won't go to anyone else in the family

1)Cotton balls soaked in warm salt water --puts LOTS of salt in the water and let the cotton balls absorb as much salt water as possible -- place on eye(s) for 5 minutes every hour
2)tea bags --black tea -- leave on the eye(s) for 10 minutes once every hour
3)soft contact solution -- use as eye drops

a warm compress of any kind, ( the tea bag idea is a good one) will help alleviate the symptoms, the infection will heal on it's own.

best thing you can do is see a doctor and get antibiotics, meds, etc...
then stay home, keep your hands clean, do not touch your eyes.
