I am fostering a pair of dogs; a large male golden retriever and a female rottweiler mix. The female has started spotting; I have found a few spots of blood on my floor. I have never had a female dog before, and I do not know what this means.

Both dogs were found and I am fostering them until we find a new home for them together... so I do not know their history. I can see that the male is neutered... but how do I know if she is spayed? Will she still have spotting if she is spayed? Will the bleeding stop after a little while? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The dog is not spayed if she is spotting. This will get worse and last for 3 weeks. You should get her spayed before you find her a new home to prevent unwanted breeding. Contact your local animal shelter for low cost or no cost options.

If she is spotting, then she's not spayed, and she's in heat. This will last about 2 weeks up to a month. You need to keep her away from males who are not neutered. You can get her some diapers at the pet store that have pads that attach inside so you don't get blood all over your house. Most likely, she will not bleed excessively, but you will have to clean blood spots off the floor and anything she lays on. She should be fine as long as you keep an eye on her. If you can afford it, take her to the vet to be spayed when she's done being in heat.

More than likely the dog is not spayed and in heat.
She will be in heat for about 3 weeks and hey can spot for 1 week and then it turns clear and this is the time she is receptive to a male, then the 3rd week they bleed again.
You can get dogie diapers for her to help with the spotting.
You should wait until after the heat to spay as the blood vessels are larger and more chance of bleeding during the heat.

There are a few real keys to dog training, whether you are trying to train your dog to come when called, sit, stop barking or any other behavior. Understanding their importance is critical to achieving rapid results that are long lasting and help develop the bond between you and your dog. Read more here https://bitly.im/d59Um

The first is simple; you must win your dogs mind. If you don’t achieve this first then you will be struggling the all the way. When I talk about winning your dogs mind what I really mean is that your dog looks to you for all the decisions. Before you do anything else watch one of the amazing video sites that show you the 5 Golden rules to establishing yourself as the pack leader. If you aren’t putting these in place then you are setting yourself up to fail. Just at the crucial point where you really want your dog to listen they will go and do their own thing. For sure your dog may play ball occasionally or even most of the time, you may even have a dog that is obedient 99% of the time, however if you want a dog who always listens to you and does as you ask then you need to win your dogs mind.

The second key to success is to motivate your dog. It is really important that you discover what it is that your dog enjoys both in terms of exercise and play but also in terms of a reward. If you can make the experience enjoyable then you will both achieve more and look forward to training.

Some dogs love to fetch, others love agility, and other dogs simply love obedience training, or swimming out into water and retrieve. At least to start with find out what your dogs love is and help them develop this, what I am saying is work with your dog. The other point to recognize is to make training enjoyable reward your dog.

The spotting means she's in heat. It will stop after awhile and then happen again in about a month or so (it's like a woman's period). She will not spot if you get her spayed.

A well-trained dog makes everyone happy, including his owner. Take a little time training him, and you'll never regret it; you'll always have an obedient dog by your side. Find more https://tinyurl.im/r61M9

By their nature, dogs are pack animals with a well-defined social order. Through basic training, you need to consistently make sure your puppy understands that you are the leader, not him. So in teaching him the basic rules, you take on the role of pack leader.

To fit into the family circle, your dog must be taught to recognize his name and such commands as come, heel, lie down and sit.
