I want to apply for medicaid. If I am married does the father still have to pay for part of the hospital bill, or is it all covered where we wouldn't have to pay anything? Does it matter if the father lives in Mexico and isn't a US citizan?

Medicaid is based on HOUSEHOLD INCOME. It's an insurance program. If you have a HOSPITAL bill, that's seperate from Medicaid.

Whoever signed for responsibility pays for the hospital bill - or whichever part Medicaid doesn't cover. Just because he's your spouse does NOT make him automatically liable for part of the bill - especially because WI is not a community property state.

If you are married and have an income from your husband, why should the taxpayers have to support you at all? I know this is the land of honey.

Mbrcatz is quite correct (as usual) but I will use this forum to advise her that she's out of date relative to her knowledge of Wisconsin. Wisconsin was one of the FIRST community property states in the nation, and still is one. Thanks, dear.

Whoever's name is on the bill is responsible.
