Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic, it is used to treat a wide variety of infections, not just anthrax. But after four days you should be feeling better not worse, so you may need a different antibiotic. Call your doctor.

I don't think you have anthrax or cat scratch fever (you have really swollen glands in that following a cat scratch by 2 weeks, but not a really bad sore throat) or diptheria, But you could have mono (a visus)or something else that the current antibiotic isn't covering. You need to get a culture, if not done yet, and consider a change in antibiotic. Find out exactly what your MD is treating. The stiff neck is a bit worrisome--if that gets worse you need to go to the ER, or if other symptoms develop like vomiting, head ache, visual changes, etc.

Not fun is it? I had cat scratch fever in 1991 and I thought my arm was going to fall off it hurt so bad.
Take the medicine and do as the Dr says.
Might consider getting rid of the cat if you have one. And remember any time you get a scratch or small bite from a cat....clean it and clean it good. You might even ask your Dr about keeping an antibiotic prescrip on standby in case of another encounter.
Again...do exactly what dr says and with time you will heal.
Prayers.

Go back to the doctor. Hopefully he took a culture of your throat before he put you on the antibiotic, if he did ask for the results and be sure to ask if the current antibiotic is for the infection you have. Doxycycline is not only for Anthrax!

your doctor told you that you were being treated for anthrax????? antibiotics can kill a variety of bacteria. go to the ER. anthrax is not a disease to be taken lightly.
