You want something off dry. Heat and spice are a killers of big, dry wines. Keep it light, slightly sweet and with some acidity.
I'm a wine retailer and in my wine stores I usually recommend Riesling or Gewurtz. for white and a jammy red like South Aussie Shiraz or a Lodi Zinfandel. Maybe even a Beaujolias.
Always drink what you like. Wine should enhance the experience so drinking something you don't like just because its supposed to pair with a meal is counterproductive.

No, I much prefer a dry wine with a very spicy dish. Sounds like good food!

The best beverage with spicy food is beer, but if you must do wine, something sweet and/or spritzy will work. Late harvest riesling, riesling, ice wine, and gewurtzraminer will all work.
