I truly don't think you can.
There are herbal medications for use with minor depression, like St. John's Wort, but for the major stuff you do need regular medication to help you get through.
Having said that, I do think that, as well as the medication, seeing someone to help you make life-style changes, and to help you adjust your "Inner voice" will help with control it long term.
If you've been diagnosed with bi-polar, or something similar, then dropping the meds, could be the worse thing you could do. Please speak to a doctor about your concerns, and ask them about the alternatives, if your not happy with what your on.
And please don't suddenly come off them because your feeling OK at the time. Did that once and ended up in a very bad place in my head. Always discuss the changes with your doctor first.
Hope you feel much better soon. Take care.

... It depends on what kind of depression you have and what caused it.

No matter what, though, I recommend speaking to a therapist who won't push for medication or refer you to a psychologist. Getting lots of rest is also helpful; depression is very draining and it can become even more severe if you don't have the energy to fight it.

Also: depression is more than just sadness or an illness. It is more of a mixture of the two. Therefore, it won't just go away like sadness, and it can't just be cured by medication and time like an illness. Depression needs to be cured with time, patience, caring, and careful observance.

A good start would be to try to be in the presence of trusted loved ones as much as possible. Treat yourself to things that you love to do/eat/watch. Constantly remind yourself that you're deserving, you're a good person, you are worth so much because you're a human being and because you're the only you in the world. Basically, do everything possible to make yourself happy.

Hope this helped in answering your question.

Major depression without any pills or meds...impossible. If you are in a major depression it is considered an illness. Maybe with some natural St Johns Wort that could help but otherwise if you are in deep you need help. More help then going to the gym and to a spa..trust me...

You can use a heating pad or hot water bottle to soothe cramps. Some people say pickle juice helps (my best friend swears on it). Some mild exercise can help as well. Chamomile tea can also help. Add a little honey to the tea as it has natural pain-relieving properties. (Plus it tastes good & local honey can help combat outdoor allergy symptoms.)

My mom has depression, and I am not sure that there is really much you can do without pills or medication. Maybe going out and enjoying yourself, or hanging out with friends. Surround yourself with people who care about you and maybe see a therapist.
