I have a very strange...illness? disease?problem? I seem to always feel like random inanimate things have feelings. For example, when i go to grab a spoon, i feel bad for the others and find myself thinking "maybe next time guys", like im abandoning them or something. Also, i hate to throw things around because it makes me feel like im hurting them when i know im really not. Am i insane?

I am not studied in psychology at all besides the few classes I took in college, but from what I can remember from the class... I forget the exact term, but it is a kind of dissociative transferrence. I could be completely wrong and please do NOT take anything I say here to heart as I am not a psychologist. But, I think it is where you feel compassion for something as if you were the object itself.

Your not, I do the same, if I grab one tissue I have to take another one so that the first one is not lonely! If I put a piece of fruit back at the supermarket because it doesn't look so nice I feel terrible for it and end up buying it! I dont think your insane but then maybe I am too! But alot of my friends say they feel the same way. And if I'm hanging out clothes and there are two pegs left I have to put them on the line also so they dont feel left out! ha ha I know it does seem very nutty!

OMG, my daughter does the same thing and I was starting to wonder...for example, she made a batch of cookies and then suddenly they were all "alive" and she made a little amusement park for them to "play" in. To eat them, she had to imagine that she was sending them to a "fun rollercoaster ride".....I think if she keeps thinking this way, she will never eat again.
I think you are probably a very bright person who is an empath, extremely sensitive. You almost sense other people's feelings and are easily hurt, or hurting for someone else. This can be good, but it can also turn into an obsessive compulsive type of thing. I'll bet everyone wants to be your friend, though, because you are so caring.

i used to do that too, i believed things had feelings but i tended to forget about it and i didn't pay much attention to it. it's just a faze your going through. everyone goes through a faze ours was just a different one then most. i see being insane two ways knowing something other people don't know or see, then there's confusion on whats going on.

lily is right, this is dissociative transference, rather than face and deal with your own inner feelings you transfer them to inanimate objects, it is "safer" for you to do so in your mind. You may want to seek psychiatric help if it is interfereing with your life, like purchasing things you dont' really want because you feel sorry for them.......
