2 days ago, my doxie was neutered. He is often quite active and seems to be back to his normal self. I feel bad keeping him in his pen for so long. He is having cabin fever. Can I take him out for a walk still? He needs that exercise before I have a permanent rug track in my house. Any suggestions?

Walks are fine. Good for his back, just be sure to set a moderate pace. No jumping. Well that holds true even when he's back to 100%. Roll a ball gently for him. Try stuffing a little kibble in a Kong and plug the hole with peanut butter. Check the incision frequently to make sure it is clean and dry and not red and irritated. Don't bathe him until after the stitches are out and you get the vet's OK.
Congrats on doing the right thing and getting your boy neutered.

Just because Doxie got neutered doesn't mean that he can't live anymore. First let him rest for roughly 3 days or less, then after that, everything it back to normal. If your dog is still drowsy or kind of bored, just let them rest a few more days. I hope that helps!

Yes, walking outside will be fine. The main thing is no jumping for a few more days. No rough playing with other dogs, etc.

As long as the dog is showing no ill effects from the surgery and you have the approval of your vet, by all means do anything with the dog you would have done before the procedure!

Only if it's a slow paced walk on a controlled short leash. No heavy exertion, no running, and definitely no swimming or water immersion whatsoever.
